There is a WP meeting in London every month:

And there is Autscape in Somerset in August:

I'd love to meet other aspies in my country...if my country actually knew what it was in the first place. I imagine there are a lot of undiagnosed aspies wandering around, wondering what the heck is wrong with them. At least thats how I was before. I think aspie awareness must be spread~

If I could drive a few hours to spend some relatively unstructured time with other aspies, I would jump at the chance.

The largest hurdle seems to be geographical. Unless there are a few from NC lurking around here.

If it were near enough to reach/afford, it would be interesting meeting other Aspies, naturally.

I'm a cat though, the duration I am willing to do anything depends on my interest modified by annoyances, fascinating + enjoyable = hours on end, somewhat interesting + mildly unpleasant = I'll be outside in a tree staring at birds in half an hour tops.

I would, but not if it was very crowded. sometimes when it gets too crowded, I have a hard time. after even short meetings with peoepl, like my aspie group, I wind up needing to isolate myself for awhile, and sleep a lot. I'd go if I had my boyfriend, or another friend there probably.

I am part of an Aspie group for teens and young adults(our oldest member is about 26, and our youngest is 15) In Camarillo california. It's a lot of fun. actually some of the members are on WP too! http://vcasap.org/ (shameless aspie plug)

Yes. I don't believe that there are any remotely near me, though.

I know there's an organisation that runs these sorts of things in the same city as me. But I am waaaaaay too embarrassed to admit to my mum that I want to try them out. I sort of know where the building is and I know what bus goes to that town and I know what days they meet. But I would have to tell my parents where I'm going because it's find of far and the meetings are later in the evenings.

You live in Toronto, wow!
Have you met the aspie musician Michael Moon, then? (here is his website: http://www.thetempleofsound.com/ )
Have you met Estee, who started the Autism Acceptance Project? (here is her website: http://www.taaproject.com/ )

If there will be an aspie gathering, would you consider attending it?
Maybe - depend on how i was feeling on the day
If so, how close to where you live would it have to be in order for you to consider attending it?
within 1 or 2 hrs drive
How long would you like the aspie gathering to last? (a day? two days? more than that?)
weekly or twice weekly evening
What sort of activities would you like to have during the gathering? (presentations? games? discussions? beer drinking?)
art/crafts,discussions,special topic presentations/education sessions, games
How many participants would you like the gathering to have? (around a dozen? around a hundred? more than that?)
a dozen or less - 3 or 4 would b better
Do you have any additional requirements that need to be met in order for you to consider attending the gathering?
No requirement to show up/speak/participate/stay the whole session, quiet setting not in the central city, cheap
Do you have any additional things that you would like to say about the aspie gathering?
in NZ?
Do you have any questions about the aspie gathering?
should NT partners be allowed to attend too or will this make single aspies uncomfortable?

it would have to be within 100 miles or so. driving any farther than that invites lower-back pain.

up to a week, to make it worth my while for driving that far. but i might leave early just the same if nobody wanted me there.

all those things would be fine but for me it would have to be ice-cold NEAR-bear, as alcohol above trace amounts makes me ill.

i think anything over a few score would be impersonal at best.

gas and lodging/food would have to be nearby. the weather couldn't be over 70 degrees F. nor could there be snow, as i hate driving in that stuff. a good mix of people would be nice.

gosh, the only thing that comes to mind- is if i found at least one liberal-minded kind person there i could dig, then it would all be worth it to me - IOW it couldn't all be intellectuals, artists, programmers/systems analysts or others of their professional ilk who would not stoop to chatting with an unemployed untalented bum - meeting another slacker/underachiever would be neat. short of that, i would leave yesterday. if it turned out they were all meanies who bandied their wits about, i would leave the day before yesterday.

I went to an Aspie meetup on Saturday. There were four of us (three of us females and one guy) and they were all nice enough.
I will go again.

Rachael Harris was interviewed on ABC Brisbane radio. It is a nice interview:

Yes. she is a friend, and we work with the ASA in our region to help people on the spectrum. She's an amazing person with a lot of wisdom.
Garry Burge also runs the University of Qld Asperger's Group on Facebook and does a lot in the region.

and here is another interview with an Asperger's woman in our region done a while before.
