trailertrash is trailer + deroggative word

you clearly are no trash

would trailergold suit? I am sure there are other good combinations possible which start with trailer

people and all their labels..... I am glad I chose to be a walrus, so I can watch all this from a safe distance
and pop out to say something foolish whenever I feel like it

thank you, IATW :) i appreciate your positive regard for me. i take my warm fuzzies with grace and gratitude. i like "trailergold" or maybe "trailer treasure" in the sense that one man's trash is another man's treasure
speaking of walrus, i often wish i had chosen the WP username and avatar "chumley," which character was a walrus in the "tennessee tuxedo" cartoon.
anyways, back to the OP, i was able to get the constabulary to listen to my complaints about a particular nest of yahoos in my "deliveranceville" community, when the complaints accumulated sufficient for them to bother, so they paid 'em a visit and read 'em the riot act, to which the yahoos responded with words akin to "that queer had no right to be out walking in MY neighborhood like a mincing freak!" IOW the thugs would have been fine with being happy little brownshirts all too willing to send me to the gas chambers just because i was different. resisting evil is a never-ending job.

I live near a trailer park and they are mostly retirees and working class people.

I don't feel safe, walking around past 4:30 in the evening, by myself or with somebody else, in my neighbourhood.

They do not bother anyone and you never see the police going in there. There are 2 Chosen Few Bikers that live there too but they do not want any hassels so they try to be invisible. I would rather live near bikers than inner city gang bangers.

Just to clarify, a "Chav" (Hyperlinked) is basically a juvenile delinquent. A stereotypical thug or yob that wears jewellery, Burberry and fires rocks at people's windows... :x

I'm suffering the exact same as LFO. It's called an "English Public Estate"... The chav's parents all buy the cheap houses on the estate, and the chavs constantly patrol it (as well as some private estates) harassing anyone they can who goes out. If your house is one of the outside houses, be prepared to be pelted/have your house pelted by snowballs in winter (and, in some cases, eggs). If you live beside a park, don't expect to be able to go on that park because, regardless of whether or not you own it, to go on that park will make your life complete and utter misery. They will go on eventually, they will see you, they will cause physical injury and/or diminish your confidence with threats that they have a knife etc. There were times when I've been groin hit and kicked when I was down on that park. Times when both I and my brother had stones thrown at us. Due to this, in my eyes, I view Chavs as the Spawn of Satan.

Wheres your police? Here in Depew there were some skate board punks that caused trouble like that but the police came down hard on them. Some people said the police were going there when they were off duty to beat the s**t out of them. Now there is a Chosen Few biker club house on the same street and they pretty much pacified the brats behavior to the point they are afraid to go on the streets they do not know who is going to get them the the cops or the bikers.

What I do not get is the Chavs are attacking people in their neighborhood and not outsiders. Here in the states if parents cannot control their kids and do nothing to change the kids attitude they are financially liable for injuries or damages caused by their kids. All you have to do is prove that they are not doing enough to change the little bastards behavior. Most parents of troubled kids do nothing not even take the kids to psychologist or some kind of threapy, One of my former co-workers sued some bully's parents when the kid came into their home busted their flatscreen tv and beat his kid up when he was not home. He got damages for the tv and money for the harrasment of his child. He got $5,000.00 and the judge told the bully's parents if he see his kid again in his court he will award the claimets 5,000.00 again until they learn to disciple their child.

I live in one of a cluster of small, semi-rural, relatively affluent suburban communities in which there is a low crime rate.
That only applies within the limits though; less savory areas lie on the borders. It isn't nearly as bad as it could be, and I'm sure that wherever I end up living after this there will be places that shouldn't be freqented at night.
There was recently an attorney who was killed by a hit man. I couldn't help but feel vaguely impressed that he was worth killing. (Unlike myself and the majority of the population.)
I wouldn't feel safe at night. Mostly because I'm really short and wimpy and entirely ill-equipped to take care of myself  I'm too much of a space cadet.

I live in the North of the City, whereas the Police Station is in the South. Not to mention, the police are very unreliable and patrol a very small radius. There is, infact, one place they are now required to patrol outside their small area - but that required constant phone calling and a local government decision... As an example of police unreliability, There were a group of Chavs throwing rocks at a family member's friend's window. That family member phoned the police, and it took her about 20 minutes before they patched her through, and a whole hour after that before they reached her house (which was about 10-20 minutes from the station). Instead of going after the thugs (who were now long gone), the officer merely spoke to the friend about it and (after she told them who it was/how much bother she'd had) drove off. What you would expect was for him to have drove to the vandal's houses, correct? Instead, he merely drove all the way back to the police station and nothing more was done...

The Chavs are clearly... Not smart, to say the least. They try to intimidate/vandalise their neighbourhood, as they see it as their safe area-of-control. It's this whole "gangsta" creed of "One gang owns one area, we own another, so we must vandalise this area to prove our gang's strength and battle it out between the other gang to take their area". The difference? There's no gangs, no "owned territory" for the taking, lax police and people who won't submit/fear these people unless either they cause enough destruction or have guns (and these people rarely ever have guns, except in the likes of London). When they harass people enough that those people fear them, then (ofcourse) they'll move out of their area-of-control ever so slightly... Except, that never happens... The police see "troubled kids" as too numerous to control, and just leave them to their thing. If it's intimidation, they will intimidate freely - as the police see it as minor. If it's vandalism, they'll get a fine - but little else. It only really counts if it were assault or murder, as that's when the compensation money and jail time actually mean something. As for drugs, under-age pregnancy etc. they're never really investigated into (heck, I remember one time that people were cheering for someone's under-age pregnancy... That is, ofcourse, a few reasons why I desperately wish to move out of Carlisle as soon as I can (after my exams, A levels etc.).

The island that I live on is populated by a combination of wealthy Seattle commuters, artists, small farms and vineyards; the most likely source of harassment is the police because they are bored. Even then, they are pretty cool about it, they'll just check you out if you're out and about at odd hours, mostly for something to do I think. Even if I weren't armed to the teeth I'd feel pretty safe here, plus I'm only a 30 minute ferry ride from downtown Seattle, it's a pretty cool place to live.

For me, it depends on the circumstances. I'm afraid of walking into an ice cream store full of "in-crowd" popular people, but not for fear of being harassed. Just afraid of the group, and don't want to deal with the eyes on me. On the other hand, I'm not afraid to walk into a billiard hall full of drunken biker dudes who probably don't like odd people (although I have no desire to do so).

I was bullied and chased when I was a kid, but I don't really have a fear of that anymore at age 43. Also I'm a fairly big 6-foot weightlifter/bodybuilder with size 15 steel toe boots, 3/4" scalpeled ear plugs, tattooed shoulder, and I can look kind of menacing like an MMA fighter if I want to. Other people don't have to know I've never been in a fight, or that I probably could get beaten up by a 4th grader since I'm a nice guy, and really am against violence.

Thats why I like the Chosen Few biker club, they are pretty nice guys when it come to interacting with the civilian population near them. They always say high when I walk by their club house. They also have some community projects in the winter time where they do toy drives for children. Their violence is limited to other bikers most of the time.

wow, that resonates with me- i also have gone the long way home just to avoid people. it sucks to be stuck in a scary place. i can understand about the health being challenged due to the stresses of living in a particularly evil environment. too bad you can't at least live somewhere without stairwells where hoods can troll about.

I'm sorry for you both. I hate the sensation of being victimized just by the environment. I'm living in an okay neighborhood, but twenty minutes' bike ride, it's a different story. Everyone's suddenly loud, immature, tattooed or thugged out, and takes offense to eye contact. In other words, you look at them it's automatically a challenge and contest to see who looks away first.
