How heavy is good for a weighted blanket? I'm thinking of getting a 10 pound one, would that give a decent amount of pressure for an adult? I want one I can sleep under safely. I wouldn't want it to hurt me.

Those weighted blankets sound pretty cool. Can anyone describe to me what they feel like (ie: Softness, Can you feel the stones?, etc.)?

No you dont feel the stones...they are very comfortable. Salt of the Earth is the best place I have found. Ive bought from another place because it was a bit less expensive but the blanket was bad quality and it got holes in it. The one I have for my youngest daughter has poly pellets in it but for the heavier ones they have to use the stones. Another thing I like about them is that they can make the end of the blanket without weight so if you dont want it on your feet or chest you can put that end there.

They don't *have* to use stones for heavy ones. My 30-pounder is all poly pellets, i swear. I wouldn't worry too much about not being able to get out from under it, i've never had any issues. My dogs have gotten under mine with me before and they don't have any trouble at all getting out, either. Most things i've read say that it should be 10% or your body weight plus one pound, generally... But a lot of people who like extra pressure go for more than that.

Aw, Blabs. I don't even like hugs but that is so touching. I'd give you a hug.

I would love to be hugged by a giant teddy bear, because I like the feeling of some of their fabrics and/or fur. The panda bear plush that I got at Build-A-Bear is really soft - even his PJs are soft!

But, I do like hugs from humans, too. When I hug some people, I feel a sense of warmth, and it's a very nice feeling. I love to give hugs, too, but I always ask first if I can hug them or not (EX: "Would you like a hug? You look sad."). I know that some people don't like to be touched or hugged, which is why I ask first.

I have a giant panda plushie as well!! !! !! ! I have it since a very young age... and I tend to like guys with similar features with my panda.... eg. round face, panda eyes, big tummy, panda looks, cute panda personality etc =P

Anyway...I feel exactly the same as you. I love hug because of the warmth and it gives me a sense of security as well =) haha, I actually tried your method today asking "you look sad would you like a hug?" but got rejected= =" oh well...lol...

You can buy a doll, this most real model. Male or female. Its skin is almost like natural, it has weight... You can hug it or discharge your desire :P

Ehh, I think I'd feel a little odd about using one of those, almost even more so if I was just going to hug it.

I have a 20-lb. weighted blanket made with the poly pellets. It is AWESOME. The first few nights it felt a little bit heavy, but now it feels wonderful.

They CAN use the poly pellets for the heavier blankets but it makes them far more bulky as the pellets are very light and you need a lot of them to create enough weight. I also found that they get holes easily because they are stuffed....Ive had to sew my sons up three times now. Id go with the fine grade stone for the heavier ones.

I'd rather if someone made an android or a hologram woman. Then I could have companionship as well :D

problem is, i don't believe any of 'em stand up on their own, you have to prop them up somehow if you want to hug one. unless you hug 'em lying down. a realdoll/boytoy would be nice if i had the equivalent amount of moolah necessary to buy a good used car. and once you have whoopied with one, the internal cleaning process can be a bear.
