I drive. I dont think there are any laws in my state that restrict you on driving based on any medical condition unless you show them otherwise. I am however required to renew my licence and have an evaluation once a year because of my previous driving record.

Wow, I envy most of you. I cannot drive. If I do, scare myself and others... and I have almost caused some serious problems.

I can't do it because I'm either spacing out or panicking.

Ive been driving for 4 years now. The fastest I got was 195 km/h - I love to make speed :)

While on the road I dont have any problem cuz I can focus well. But while driving nobody should interfere my driving, otherwise I get confused and angry. Thats why I argue alot with my father in the car.

Another thing I noticed is if I see a known person out of the car, I get excited and try to holler him/her, and in the mean time I totally forget that Im driving a car. Last time it almost caused an accident.

I got my license sometime after graduating HS, so probably when I was 19. Much later than regular HS folk.

I had an 85 Mercedes 300D when I got started. Nice sedan car, diesel, and I got to take it many adventures. A bit slow though since it's heavy and the brake wear was rather high on it. Only got pulled over once and that was for driving too slow on woodsy roads at night. I had to trade it off when fuel started getting too pricey and I now have a 06 VW TDI Beetle. It's a bit better to use in this fuel economy since I get about 50 MPG.

Overall I tend to be a pretty good driver I think. However I do enjoy driving fast and sporty from time to time with manual on it. Have to have the right kinds of roads though to really have some fun.
The most problems i ever seem to have is scraping the alloy wheels when parking. It's happened twice in my ownership and it's damn bothersome since replacing the alloy wheels is about $400 a piece. I wish there a nice plastic hubcap that could be easily replaced instead of the whole wheel.

Next car I get, I want something a bit cooler, but I still want to have good fuel economy. I like smaller cars so maybe I'll upgrade to a VW Golf TDI with some modern features. What I would really like is a VW Scirocco, but for some reason they're only available in Europe. I suppose if I wanted to be a petrolhead I would go for the Golf GTI or a Ford Focus RS.

I can, but so far I am not a fan of the internal combusition engine. My family moved from NC to GA and I never got another license. I have a car, but I travel on foot, by public transportation, or on the Scwinn Stingray chopper I bought on Craigslist. It is more my style than the eleven-year-old Toyota my parents gave me. If my dream car came along, I might be more interested, but I would still not drive much because all the cars I like are huge and therefore expensive to run and bad for the environment. Really, there are two vehicles that could make me excited enough about being behind the wheel to go through more DMV fun before my eighteenth birthday. The 1958 Cadillac convertible is beyond my reach financially, and Mom and Dad forbid the aging hearse because other people would see it parked in the driveway.

That's how my eldest is. He's got a lot of visual disturbances, which can make it hard for him to notice things and he spaces out a lot. He also panics and has strong physical reactions. Unless something changes BIG TIME he's never going to be able to drive, and he knows it.

I'm that way with lawnmowers. I just can't stand the ones with engines or motors, they just bug me and they do seem to throw more stuff into the air which bothers my allergies. Even without the allergies I feel a lot safer with a reel mower. I've got an acre and a half to mow in the GA heat and humidity, but I do it with my little old fashioned contraption.

For a car I prefer a stick shift, and don't really feel like I'm driving without one. The car I have now is a Prius which isn't available in a standard transmission, I think they can't make them that way. I like it a lot anyway. I really like that it's so quiet in electric mode. I don't like engine noises.

Hopefully yours isn't one of the ones from the recall that were going runaway and killing people!

I got my license when I was 23. The delay was due to a physical disability and finances rather than anything due to AS. I was a bit of a leadfoot at first but have slowed down a little. I try to avoid driving for more than 45 minutes to an hour one way (assuming no traffic) when possible due to being distractable and getting spacey after a while. I wouldn't say I love driving itself, but after taking the bus for 5 years I love the independence it gives me.

I've had my license for 12 years now and I drive quite well. However if there's going to me more than one person in the car I'd rather have someone besides me drive. I don't really like having passengers. It's too distracting / annoying. My parents are the absolute WORST passengers. They always make me nervous with their incessant back-seat driving.

That's why I usually refuse to drive with my father in the car. On really long road trips we'll trade off every few hours, but if he's going with me for a short ride I simply refuse and make him drive. I can't stand it when he's telling me what to do and then I make a mistake because he's distracted me.

So far it hasn't gone rogue. I did have to have these clip things put into the floor matts on the drivers side. It's not even a year old.

When my mom does that I say "Oh, I'm SOOOO Glad you are here! HOWEVER, do I get around without your help" at which point we are both reduced to giggles and she can't tell me what to do without laughing at herself.

Ive been driving since I was 17....I also had to take my drives test a few times because I was so nervous. I have never gotten a ticket and never been in an accident that was my fault....people like to run into me in parking lots for some reason!
I was fortunate that I learned to drive in a rural area then moved to scary California. I still HATE driving in LA but am used to the area I live in. I worked as a mobile Phlebotomist for many years and I learned my way around. I am terrified of getting lost and am anxious driving in new places but I enjoy driving for the most part. My husband just got us a GPS as we are moving and going on vacation this summer.

I would like to drive but I some times get fixated on the yellow or white lines on the road. I also have an unnatural need to read bumper stickers. I am also so nervous when I am in a car with someone I am not use too to driving me I will not shut-up in an attempt to forget about what is happening.

I love driving, the absolute silence in the car makes it my personal safe haven, provided that I drive without passengers.

This might be a bit off-topic, but is it true that in the US most cars are automatic transmission in comparisson to mainland Europe, where the most cars are stick-clutches?
