I love music, because it takes you to a different place and it makes me feel. I mostly listen to instrumentals though.

Singing from the soul. A beautiful rendition of a beautiful song. Nights in White Satin was originally from the Moody Blues...one of my favorite groups ( The lead singer of the Moody Blues - Justin Hayward makes the cameo appearance near the end). How this cannot be positively INSPIRING to all... I won't understand. Music is international. It crosses across all boundaries...as it speaks to the human condition.

I like to take all of my favourite music and put it on repeat, always trying to notice all of the sounds in the songs.
I can't stand rock music though, the tinny sound gives me a headache, I'm much more into high rhythm/bass music, its easier on my ears and makes me feel more comfortable.

I can feel the creative juices in my brain start to flow, because I'm starting to get strictly back into the 60s music. The music of the 60s used to do that to me, and than I used to get my coloured pencils out, and go to town. I have a feeling, that's going to happen, when I cut my internet time in half, after tomorrow, if I can cut that time, in half. If I can't, than I'll draw and post on WP, at the very same time.

Music is simply transformative for me. In a world where I feel like a penguin on land, when I'm playing music I'm a penguin in the water.

Since we're posting videos, here is one of my favorites. It's Louis Boudreault playing quebecois tunes during the height of the revival in the 70s. Amazing stuff.

Are there so few people who love music?! OK - Last song that I shall post on this thread. It shall die of silence. If this song isn't somehow moving to you....then I simply don't understand people.

I almost cried when I first heard this song. And it's not supposed to be a sad song. It just sounds amazing and beautiful.
It single-handedly got me interested in my Irish heritage.

I like the beat of that song...yes, she does have a beautiful voice...my favorite Irish singer / performer is Enya.
OK....so I lied...I just have to post at least another one...A classic song from Enya. I've loved her music since it first came out.

Alright, ShenLong, you suck! :P Now I've got that song stuck in my head, knew I shouldn't have listened to it, but I'm a sucker for the Irish ladies, my fiancee is of Irish descent. :)

I listen to the music just for the instrumentals. In particular if a track has instrumentals that I like I keep playing the same track over and over. I listen to all types of music, most particular video game and anime music.

Another thing about music is if it's really good, it has a blood-curling effect on me. The most recent one that had that effect was the Angel Beats OP song. The actual effect happens when it shows the portion of the OP where it shows you portions of what will happen in the episode.

A lot of music has to have something dark/dissonant in it or be in a minor key for me too really "feel" it. With a few notable exceptions strictly consonant / major-key music either bores or annoys me. I like a lot of stuff that has a slightly middle-eastern or south-asian feel as well.

I tried to share music I like in the car with my father. He said he thinks the music I listen to has no melody and no "steady beat".

I guess I go for interesting timbre, texture, or layering more than music that's strictly melody/beat driven.

Please, You Tube an example. I also like the type of music you were referring to.

Here's a song I happen to like that has no melody or beat according to my dad. But I think its brilliant because unlike most songs the music fits *perfectly* with the lyrics.

Beautiful melancholy piano with no steady time signature (I think there are better interpretations out there but this is what I could find on youtube).
