There was a cartoon version of that? Hmm, wait...I do seem to remember seeing at least a promo trailer for that...gosh, that would have been about...mid-late 80s?

The original movie (an atrocious amateur-made disaster) had already been around for several years by then. I think Attack of the Killer Tomatoes (the film) was mid-late 70s phenomenon. The movie was one of those thing that was marketed to the midnight movie crowd as 'so bad its good', but the truth was, it was funny for about a minute and a half, then it was just a whooole lotta stupid. Of course, the midnight movie crowds were generally stoned out of their gourds, so it seemed funny anyway. There was a sequel that was slightly higher budget, but no funnier.

Hopefully it worked better as an animated feature.

As for Star Wars, TheDoctor82 , perhaps you'd feel differently if you'd experienced New Hope when it was brand new. I remember seeing trailers on television and thinking that stupid Wookie costume was the cheesiest thing I'd ever seen, and refused for months to see it, even though others were raving about how much fun it was. When I finally did see it, I recognized Lucas' scriptwriting abilities as mediocre, and the whole plot as 30s serial Space Opera, but the first time the Millennium Falcon went into hyperdrive - I know nobody can understand this now who is too young to have experienced it, but WOW! In 1977 that was absolutely the most amazing effect I'd ever seen on the big screen. It blew me back in my seat and movies were never the same again. Seriously, Star Wars may not be high art or great literature, but that franchise completely remade filmmaking on every level. Those who have grown up with CGI just can't imagine the changes that all evolved from Star Wars - including the CGI technology itself, all developed from the work of Industrial Light & Magic, thanks to George Lucas and that piece o'crap Star Wars franchise.

I think the movie Attack of the Killer Tomatoes is hilarious. Then again, I think everything Will Ferrell has done is lame as hell, for example, so my humor isn't exactly common.

I posted a youtube link to the intro song for the cartoon. It didn't work very well, and most people think I'm confused and remembering the movie. lol

Edit... I watched a few documentaries concerning the making of Star Wars and how it revolutionized the movie industry. If you look at the movies before it, you can clearly see the difference.

 I'm surprised Will Ferrel hasn't starred in a remake of Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. I think they're about equally unfunny.

To be fair, there were a few laughs in Talledega Nights and Stepbrothers, but just a few - still, that's more than I can say for Adam Sandler.

For me, Ferrel's finest moment to date was doing Free Bird on Conan O'Brien's last Tonight Show. :D

I'm not a big fan of the sophomoric type of movies that Adam Sandler usually stars in, but have you ever seen Punch Drunk Love?

I like some pretty obscure things, myself. I like The Pearly Kings and Queens of London, Routemaster buses, The Kinks, and chubby autistic rats, with spiked hair.

Don't know if this is a part of my autism or not, but I'm like a master of obscure TV shows, movies, music, books, etc. (For example, how many of you Americans heard of the "His Dark Materials" trilogy? ) and whenever I talk about them, I always get responses like "never heard of it" or "that look/sounds like crap".

Think of it this way, you're not the only one who cares about them or they never would have been made. Don't let anyone limit you, it's not wrong. Enjoy what you love. Have you looked for forums online for similar fans? I'm very sure there out there.

Nope, don't recall watching that...

On the other hand, thechadmaster, I have seen that one - Bought all the Betty Boop cartoons on VHS back in the 90s, when they were ALL available in one set - 119 of 'em - dubbed them to DvD myself, because King Features Syndicate WON'T RELEASE THE ENTIRE COLLECTION on DvD in the US, no idea why, the rat b@stards.

Love Betty, she's hot.

Except when she's a dog. :?

I love obscure stuff! From those old 70s disaster movies, to trammell starks, to those weird foodstuffs at the dollar store instead of "Duncan Hines" cake mix its stuff like "Donovan Haynes", or that white non-descript can of "USDA approved canned boned chicken" found at a local surplus and salvage store.

(I wont eat those things, its just fun to read the label and figure out what brand they are trying to imitate)

anybody remember "ok" brand soda? if it was just "ok" no wonder they dont make it anymore/

I found out about Trammell Starks on TWC CLASSICS. I've been loving his music for years without even knowing it. :) Now I have a couple of his pages bookmarked.

I think the character he plays has Asperger's. It's a dark love story.

Wow, I had completely forgotten that existed until I read your post. I did remember the chorus from the theme song, but I thought it was just from the movie (was the song also in the movie?). *memories*

Did you ever watch the Noozles? It was on about the same time.

I don't recall watching the Noozles. I may have, though. I preferred He Man. lol
