CockneyRebel, I just read the thread in question:

(1) What you said was not that offensive in the first place;
(2) You already apologized in that thread;
(3) I understand the OP was worried and upset, but she lashed out at pretty much everyone in a fashion that was, IMO, completely uncalled for.

Believe me, you said/did nothing wrong. I hope you feel better. :)

Take care.

(P.S. Willard, you posted in that thread and offered some very helpful advice.)

Absolutely :thumright: - there is no need to apologise for stating your opinion, which you did in a non offensive manner. After all that woman said:
Quote:
I would hate myself if he turned out to be anything like any of you. No one started out to hurt your feelings, but because you're frustrated and angry about your own issues, you couldn't even take a second to think about anyone else. If that were the case, then you should have kept to yourself. Just because someone posts on here, does not mean that you have to respond. You do have social issues and I can tell you that without even seeing you or meeting you. Learn how to treat people better and maybe they will do the same to you. Don't ever expect anyone to understand you or your disorder because when people ask questions to help them understand it, you attack them. Get over yourself and get a life.
Thanks to those of you that cared enough to provide adequate feedback. The rest of you can go F(*& yourself.

...and I don't see her apologising anywhere.

CockneyRebel, I went in a had a look. I thought your comments came from the OP having hit a raw nerve. Hope you know what I mean and do correct me if I'm mistaken. I didn't find any thing wrong with any of it. I get a lot out of your posts. Please keep them coming. :D

Ferdinand...you're naughty... :shameonyou: However folks, I get Ferdie: Teenage boy with AS; Brutally honest; Easily bored; Mischievous. I think you're a rascal Ferdie...but a likable one and I enjoy your posts.

That's my opinion. It usually takes an awful lot to offend me, I'm easily entertained and in real life I'm the one who people steer clear of because I'm saying it as I see it.

And if I may now be honest...I thought Wrong Planet would be a place where people with ASD's could hang and be perfectly honest without the whole..."We must be diplomatic for people are over sensitive" mentality coming back to bite you. Goes to show...AS or not.....all human...same human nature.

I choose to tap into my sense of humour over taking offense every time. And might I add, I do feel rather stifled on Wrong Planet for fear of offending and being banned!! Jeez folks! Lighten up!

Somebody in that thread challenged my beliefs and my role model, and that's what set me off, into a meltdown.

CockneyRebel -

Don't feel bad. I have read the thread, and don't judge you for what you wrote. It's really easy for people with Autism to punish themselves and feel low about things they have said and people they may or may not have offended, but ultimately it's a waste of time . . . especially when you have so many understanding friends here who know exactly what it's like to feel uncertain and stressed about such things.

And for the record, I care too whether or not people on here are upset, and I feel sad that in many cases there's not much I can do to help them - so let's not waste the chances we have to support each other by claiming that 'no-one cares' about any one member on here, because it's simply not true.

...and I like that you were honest with your reaction. It's a whole lot more valuable, to me, than if you'd been overly reserved.
