Women have a higher thresh-hold for pain, and we carry and nourish babies. That's pretty freaking functional, if you ask me.

True but our lower threshold makes us more likely to retaliate in the event of pain caused by another being. Survival instinct, a necessary evil.

I'm not really sure what you are saying here, but seeing as men evolved to be the hunters and providers for the women, who evolved to care for the children and gather, I would imagine both a higher thresh-hold and lower thresh-hold are beneficial in their own ways.

The hunters needed to be able to tell when something wasn't quite right or they might not survive to 'bring home the bacon'. the child-bearers needed to be able to withstand child bearing and constant care of offspring.

Like I said, neither is more functional. They just provide different functions.

Women's bodies are more functional at having babies, without which, the human race dies.

Don't compare apples and oranges.

In a short term survival situation only a hunter-gatherer is needed. In a long term species survival situation both are needed. So I therefore proclaim man superior.

This is silly. Humans are an intelligent species. Intelligence is much more important to us than pain threshold, or any physical attribute.

The Neanderthals were also intelligent, but not as intelligent. They were also built more solidly and matured faster. If intelligence didn't matter, humans couldn't have competed in either a direct physical confrontation or in an indirect who-can-hunt better situation. Instead, the Neanderthals couldn't compete with us, and died out.

I can't be mistaken for an obvious sexist at least? :x

I need to work on my image. Fine, I'll post something sexist. :P

This is not entirely true. When a woman is pregnant chemicals like endorphins build up in her system to help her prepare for the birthing. Women actually have a lower tolerance for pain than men unless they are pregnant.

I just came across another situation where I'm sexist.

When I go to a hardware store and I need help, I always look for a guy to talk to. I've talked to some really knowledgeable women at these places, but I typically find myself leaving quicker when talking to a guy.

Does it count as sexism that I feel jealous of men for their physical strength, the fact that their bodies are more functional, and they rarely have to fear being raped?

Do you think any modern technology (e.g. pepper spray, personal alarms) can help compensate for your lack of physical strength and ease your fear of being raped?

Also, while you're right about male athletes being generally more fit than female athletes, I suspect more than half of all men are completely untrained. With a few years of serious training, you can exceed each and every one of them at fitness and, yes, strength. Being small can also serve as an advantage for some sports - snowboarding comes to mind.

Finally, there are cases of men being sexually assaulted. For example:

Same sort of s**t happens to me. I go to the auto parts store and lets say I ask for a positive crankcase ventilation valve (not that I would since they are on the shelves in plain sight). If the cashier is a woman I would get a "a WHAT?" where as a man would probably just keep hitting the down key on the keyboard while repeating what I said and then say "ah one moment" and go grab the correct one.

It amazes me that I can't get a job at Autozone but women who know nothing about cars can.

Eh, that's basically what I said. I just didn't go into great detail.

Huh... I don't do that. Though, this does explain why some guy at a car show a few years ago decided to tell me the tool I was using was a wrench. I just looked at him and said, "I know that".

I hate when people assume I don't know s**t about tools or home improvement just because I don't have a penis.

That's just them catering to the male customers. Most guys don't care if the girl knows what she's talking about. If she's hot, they'll stay longer and spend more money. At least, that's the theory they're operating under.

They don't even appeal to male customers! They are stupid, half of them are whiny, none of them are under 30, none of them would look good in or out of uniform.

There are two people at my local autozone who I enjoy going in there to see. One is an older gentleman who has been a mechanic for several decades at least and the other is a tall short haired man who overall has a very cheerful attitude and knows what he is doing. There was another guy I saw once or twice but I forget what he looked like but he came out to look at a hose or something to see what I needed and he was like "wow it's clean and isn't this that engine Nissan used in that one sports car?". I love when guys at auto parts stores are wowed by my car. Also happened to me once in Lakeland.

That's when you say "hand me your 3/8s drive torque wrench I think your head bolts are loose" then make wrenching motions over his head.

That would have been funny, but I was with my husband and didn't want to make a scene. I don't like confrontation.
