I find it interesting that nobody who identifies themself as NT has replied to this poll, either one way or the other. I wonder if this is only an issue for those of us on the spectrum :?:

it makes me cringe to hear my voice recorded. i sound so monotone and awkward. and its too quiet

That sounds a lot like me. My voice tends to be very quiet in public, not so much so at home when I am more relaxed. And it is monotone. When I had my diagnostic assessment, they mentioned my 'unusual monotone speech' in their report and that made me feel really self-conscious. I also think my voice can sound rather gruff and unfeminine and I really hate that. Again, this is worse in situations where I feel uncomfortable about having to talk.

No, it isn't. My mother, who is extremely NT, dislikes her voice because she feels that it is annoying to others. Nobody complains about it, though. Maybe someone did when she was a child or something...
Anyways, I voted "Hate it" and that I have ASD, but I don't technically "hate" it OR "love" it. People have told me that they like it because it is a different voice for a female. I have been told on numerous occasions that it sounds like that of the American actress Ellen Page, then sometimes people even say it is similar to the voice of Kristen Stewart. But, for a visual,

H = Hate of voice
L = Love of Voice
N = Neutral

H----------I----------N--------------------L

I feel like it just drones on and on, and this is why I'm reluctant to read aloud.
But meh.
I'm probably just paranoid.

I hate my own voice especially on microphone. My parents and brother say I'm loud and I'm the headache and my singing is terrible. I used to get laughed at for what I say. On microphone, I sound like I'm always depressed or sarcastic.

My voice is fine. Hating it would be pointless. I do voice exercises to strengthen it sometimes.

I recently had to record myself reading a story. When I played it back, I didn't identify with the voice, but I did enjoy it.
