showers are too much stimulation for me although if there is no other choice i can grit my teeth and have one. baths are a different story altogether for me. same sensation and temperature all over so thats such a relief for me

I prefer hot bath over a shower, any day.

I hate it!
I hate getting naked, having my hair to wash and rinse (it's l o o o n g and thick)
and FREEZING for an hour after I get out.

Once I am actually in the shower, the water temperature is right, things are okay... But I tend to procrastinate for forever with actually doing it. I make sure to shower the vast majority of days but I'll admit it is a struggle willing myself to do it. I feel very impatient preparing to shower and then getting dressed, drying, etc after. It is stressful.

My only problem with showers is it takes so long as I'm so slow and meticulous with it. I scrub everywhere, plus soaping up and shaving, and wash my hair 3 times plus conditioner (My hair is past my hips.). So it usually takes 45 minutes at least. It's a serious workout in low oxygen environment for me. :D

I have to plan it for a time when I'm relaxed and not too tired, and not at dinner time or outing of course. I usually find the chance every 2 - 3 days. I almost never sweat, though so I can probably go longer but I try to keep up with it.

Hate it. Take one every day anyway, to avoid the sensory overload from being sweaty or sticky or dirty in any way. You just can't win sometimes.

Those of you who are bothered by having to wash your hair: Consider a very short haircut. I have one, and I can feel the difference in stress levels when it's shorter rather than when I've let it grow. If you are a girl and worried about looking feminine, there are some short styles that are very feminine, especially if you accessorize with a pair of earrings (stud earrings are, for me, not a sensory burden at all--YMMV.)

I kind of find washing my hair to be a pita but I'll never cut it. I like my long hair. I want it to be even longer.

I find it a nuisance because it takes so long for me. I hate doing my hair after because it's so thick and poofy. I'm just lazy I guess, it's just a big production for me because I have to shampoo, condition and deep condition my hair. I then have to shave and wash my body and cleanse my face. While I'm deep conditioning my hair, I usually multi-task and brush my teeth. Then I get out of the shower and freeze my you know what off and then I get to decide on what to wear because I was too lazy to pick out my clothes the night before. Then I get to blow dry my hair and straighten my hair which takes about 2 hours.

All I do with my hair is wash, condition, and brush. I don't use a hair dryer and let it dry naturally and I don't style it or use any products on it except an olive oil detangling spray I got in the dollar store so the brush goes through easier.

I need it trimmed. I want to try to start getting it trimmed once or twice a year and try doing CO washing to see if I can increase my terminal length. I think with better care it can get longer.

I enjoy showering, eggsept that it requires me to suspend the special interests for awhile, so I have been known to put it off and put it off and put it off...

I love the water for swimming and relaxing in a hot tub. But water to get clean is a different story. It's not the act of showering that is stressful for me, it's all the stuff afterward that gets to me (make up, hair, getting dressed). I'd rather be stinky, I just wish everybody else wouldn't judge so much.

The shower/bathing isn't the problem for me. I like the hot water and steam (makes my head feel better, I have sinus problems) and I don't like feeling dirty or being afraid that I have an odor. But getting out is awful. I hate being cold and wet more than almost anything I can think of. I have to stay wrapped in towels until I am totally dry, and even then my hair is wet and cold for a long time and I don't like that feeling either. I can't deal with hairdryers at all. I have the same problem with swimming.

I end up not getting around to it, forgetting to do it, or falling into bad hygiene habits that I picked up from my father... but I'm working on it.

When I do, I usually soap up, rinse off, then plug the drain, sit in the tub, and let the shower run over my back for a while.

I don't mind the washing part as I have a good adjustable shower head which is gentle.

I DO mind the cleaning and drying of the shower though - I have OCD.

I enjoy going in, I don't enjoy when my fingers get wrinkly and am almost forced to get out!
