Abnormally Kind To Animals
Well, I've been a vegan for over a decade, and most people think that is highly abnormal.
I don't like killing any insects, but I do have a list of animals that I will kill if they are inside the house.
mosquitoes
cockroaches
fleas
ticks
poisonous spiders
Even so, I feel bad about killing them. Everything else gets put outside. Small spiders can stay inside, even though I'm slightly arachnophobic.

I don't think there is anything such as "Abnormally kind to animals". I feel a responsibility to see to the safety of all animals when a situation comes up where I have any influence or control. I will always catch and release rats, mice, and spiders, rather than to kill if at all possible. Flies, fleas, and roaches, I have to be practical and kill as a first resort. It doesn't please me to do that, but it's the only way to maintain cleanliness and safety.
With pets, I will go out of my way; even cramp my lifestyle severely to care for a special-needs pet. We have a dog with insulin-dependent diabetes, another with epilepsy seizures, and several cats & dogs with age or injury-related disabilities. They're family to us, and we will, God willing, see to it that they live the maximum life span in the best possible comfort... Even if it means sacrificing vacations to stay home and give care, or paying a 4-digit vet bill and keeping an old car in stead of buying new, etc.

I ADORE any soft, warm-blooded animal, moreso than people, although I eat meat and hate certain insects/ spiders.
I get more affection from dogs. At least they care about me. I always feel bad when we take one to get fixed, and I would never euthanize a pet because I think it's morally wrong.
what about 'unusually' or better still extremely........its a good thing!! !! !
the negativity is chronic here!! !!
That's not what I meant. I'm definitely not negative at ALL. I blame bad word choice. Sorry if it came across as a negative connotation. I meant just not a little kind to animals, but OVERLY kind than the regular person walking the street would ever be. Face it, we're different, but that's the best part. We defend God's animals, and set ourselves apart from the rest of the garbage out there.
In my "favourites" I have this adorable video & I secretly watch/listen at times, for my "animal fix." Somehow animals make me feel emotion where I may not otherwise. I love 101 Dalmations & still re-read the book.
[Incidentally, I know what you meant; and "abnormal" means, in this instance, outside of the normal realm, or more than another would be kind to an animal(s).]

ha yes.
My friend gets annoyed with me when we are walking home from the bus stop after school. I will just see a cat and shout "awww!" in the middle of the street, then pick it up. If I see an animal being hurt, it distresses me a lot, but if I see a person get hurt, all I do is worry that I'll have to do something and be forced into a situation in which I am uncomfortable. I used to pretend to be an animal when I was younger, too. (I still do now, but mumma doesn't know...shhh).
It's probably an Aspie thing.

Here is a quote from Henry Beston:
"We need a wiser and perhaps a more mystical concept of animals...
We Patronize them for incompleteness, for their tragic fate of having taken form so far below ourselves.
And therein we err, and greatly err. For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complete than ours they move finished and complete,
gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings;
they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendor and travail of the earth."
That is beautiful, thank you for saying it, and I firmly agree!
An attribute of ASD individuals that I am so proud of, and has been noted quite extensively, is our deep connection to animals. It's as if animals + autistics are somehow matched. Really a mystical part of our being, and vice-versa.
Do you think animals know of our Autism? I do. They come to us.

to NON PASSERINE......when you have a companion animal neutered/spayed, you are doing all animals a favor. last year , and this year is on track for the same number, over 5,000,000 cats and dogs were killed in u.s. animal shelters for the simple reason that there were not homes available for them to go to. increased neutering is the only answer to prevent this. if you spent time in an animal shelter that accepted everything that came to the door, you would quickly see that the situation is beyond control. most humans do not care that their 8 puppies will be killed, they only care that little judy got to see 'childbirth'. one of a thousand excuses given by those who leave dogs/cats/others at animal shelters. neutering is a kindness.
if your dog/cat was severely ill or injured beyond repair, was in horrific pain, with no hope of getting better or surviving, you would not have them put down, but would allow them to suffer in agony for days or weeks? i am completely baffled by that attitude. think it through. sometimes a mercy death is the absolute correct thing to do. to do otherwise is just cruel.
I love spiders, I hate it when people kill harmless spiders just becuase they do not like the look of them. I told off a person recently for hating spiders. The person said that they hated spiders becuase of their appearance. I told the person that the spiders might be disgusted at the sight of a human.
I hate flys, I have a 2000 volt electric fly swatter, it was designed for mosquitoes but it works on houseflys. The mosquitoes and flys have to die as they are disease bearing insects. The mosquitoes bite and are nasty. I am tempted to alter the electric fly swatter to make it more powerful.
After this change I could use it to kill wasps, I do not like killing wasps but they are so nasty. They sting. Twice in my life I have had to deal with wasp nests. This makes me nervous. I am more tolerant of bees as they do useful work and are less violent towards humans, I would love to have bee hives.
I love cats and dogs, I am known for petting random cats. I enjoy walking my dogs, I sometimes like to go for a long walk with just me and the dog.

If there is no reason to get rid of the spiders, I wouldn't either. Besides, at least they take care of the mosquitoes.

For the 4-legged animals - I can look into their eyes! I am not shy around animals at all and they are my instant comrades.
Of course, spiders have more than four legs.
As for Temple Grandin she is in good faith, but she shakes hands with industrial slaughterers, so I don't know...
I think she is one big hypocryte. Anyway, if she loved them as much as she claims to or at least how I love meerkats, she'd be doing everything in her power in ADDITION to desigining humane equment. She would also promote a vegetatian lifestyle. She claims she can't be a vegetarian becuase of a medical condition but that's about the most pathetic excuse. Either become a vegetartian and do what you can to end slaughter or shut the f**k up, Temple.

I'm not weird, you're just too normal.
Now I'm not one of those PETA freaks that think that swatting a mosquito is a sin against God, esp. since I eat a lot of game meat (my dad hunts), but I tend to be very kind to animals in most situations. Take today for example. I was walking my girlfriend to meet with her Japanese instructor, and as we were passing the building with the language department, a squirrel came up to us, it was obvious it was begging for food. Afterwards I went and bought a bag of sunflower seeds and fed it, it came right up to me and started eating seeds that I had put on the ground for it. I also tend to randomly pet dogs (with permission from their owners, of course) and try to coax cats over to me so I can pet them.
I'm not against killing animals for food - matter of fact, I plan to try hunting as soon as I get the chance - but if I'm not planning on eating it for dinner then I treat it with love and respect.
A common misconception about hunters is that we are overly cruel to animals. In fact, we tend to be the most outspoken when it comes to wildlife conservation. Besides, taking an animal for meat means that the animal meets a swift end from the barrel of a gun or the string of a bow, as opposed to the suffering and starvation it would face if we let it breed so much that it could not sustain itself due to competition. Hunting is one of the many safeguards against overpopulation in national parks, etc. And as far as hunters being wasteful with their kills (i.e. only taking choice cuts of a game animal and leaving the rest to rot), Wyoming at least has a law stating that all of the meat from a game animal must be harvested, and fines as well as hunting license suspensions are imposed on those who leave meat behind.
