I think you should buy a private room. You can't expect hospital workers... nurses, to enforce everyone's special requests.

It's not a special request, but a need. I'll probably get one because my mom is doing her job now and advocating for me. When I had some blood tests today, they gave my her a number to call and to also explain my situation when I am admitted. I just wish someone would explain to me why they want me to come in at 10 when the surgery itself is at one.

They will need to do a number of things. They need to double check your paper work. Probably set up an IV. Maybe take some blood. The need to prep you for surgery, too. You may want a tranquilizer for that if you have tactile sensory issues. The I.V. will be taped to your hand and depending on the surgery technique, they may shave the incision area. This could cause sensory overload.

It takes four hours to do all that? Tranqulizers only make me on edge and do every thing but knock me out. Don't they shave the incision area when I'm out? What does "prep" mean?

Good luck. I hope it all goes well for you.

I'm sure they have good reasons for wanting you there a few hours early... Im sure they want things to go smooth for everyone.

I've learned from expirence that it takes that long because these are mostly NTs who like to procrastinate and sit on their asses until the last minnute.

"prep" = prepare - could be a number of things. They shave you as part of the prep, usually.

10 to 1 is only 3 hours. You need to remember, this is an institution. Everything happens in slow motion except in the emergency room.

Welllll... I have spent a great deal of time in hospitals in the last five years. I have total respect for most everyone I have encountered. You can rest assured that their motives are not to waste your time, or to upset you. They want to do a good job. They want to keep it clean. They want you to have a positive outcome, and experience. NT's have nothing to do with it.

Your uterus does more than just provide a place for a baby, there are more physical issues once the uterus is gone. I do hope they explained all that, and how you will need to go back in periodically to have everything tacked back up.

She already had the operation, and no longer posts here.
