It's not a special request, but a need. I'll probably get one because my mom is doing her job now and advocating for me. When I had some blood tests today, they gave my her a number to call and to also explain my situation when I am admitted. I just wish someone would explain to me why they want me to come in at 10 when the surgery itself is at one.
They will need to do a number of things. They need to double check your paper work. Probably set up an IV. Maybe take some blood. The need to prep you for surgery, too. You may want a tranquilizer for that if you have tactile sensory issues. The I.V. will be taped to your hand and depending on the surgery technique, they may shave the incision area. This could cause sensory overload.
