Do certain tones of voice annoy you?

I'm so like that. I find it almost impossible to listen to voices like Sarah Palin or Cynthia McFadden (she does Nightline).

That is antagonising!

I often find that I can immediately like people better if their voice sounds nice to me. If they have an annoying voice, even though I know that logically it doesn't necessarily point to them being annoying personality-wise and not a good person, I will automatically wonder how someone could spend time with them without being really irritated.

I can very frequently get irritated by tones of voice too, like really fake, "sweet", patronizing ones.

The other day my dad wanted to show me something and he said my name in this way that sounded serious so I got confused and thought I was in trouble for something but then when I looked up and saw that he just wanted to show me something I got mad that he had sounded so serious to me. Maybe I was wrong about his voice sounding that way...?

I love the Scottish burr. It does make you feel warm and sweet.

But that droning "Janet" is a real peak of nastiness.

Yep, I get stuck on this one too. They could be saying all kinds of nice things, for all I know - but all I can hear is the irritating noise of that voice. I'd commented elsewhere about Steve Balmer - who is quite possibly a really nice guy - but I cannot get past that foghorn of a voice and he just becomes that voice: loud, aggressive and in-your-face.
Jeez, someone could say "hello" to me in an unexpected or odd tone and I'm instantly trying to work out what it might mean (the tone, I mean) so my response arrives late, mumbled and unconvincing.

I like a song/singer due to the tone/sound of their singing voice.
I usually do not have an interest and very often do not even agree with the lyrics they are singing but as I find the tone/sound of their voice soothing I will listen to the song as I listen to music to relax sometimes.

Opera does that for me - especially some Mozart arias, sung by a female voice. I can understand maybe one word in five (sung in German) but it doesn't matter at all because the sound is so beautiful and uplifting.

I could never stand Sarah Palin's voice either. I couldn't remember what Cynthia McFadden's voice sounded like, so I watched the clip you linked. I made it exactly 19 seconds through before I had to turn it off.

I find loud and high pitched voices (sometimes) to be grating. And sometimes some southern accents are grating as well.

I absolutely can't stand the way Oprah announces things, and how other people also started doing it. It's a really obnoxious trend that "SHE START-EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHD!".

Yep. My mom has a nasty gossip sound and fabricates stuff by using one "bad" voice when parapharasing others and a "good " voice to paraphrase herself. I aso can't stand voices that are struggling to talk, because they make me struggle. I keep telling them to clear thir throat. I like monotonous sounds because they relax me. I hate fast talking because it tires me.

Anytime I encounter someone with a whiny voice, I want to smack them across the head and tell them to STFU. Sooooo annoying!

Loud "yelling" voices, high pitched voices, and excessive use of the word "Like" annoy me beyond the point of annoyance as well.
