My boyfriend thinks that the best thing that could happen to him would be to get booted, tho. He feels that James has already had enough exposure to be guaranteed a recording deal. He may be right, but I'd still like to see him go all the way - partly because of the Aspie thing, but also because I'd really like to see a rocker win for a change. I don't think I've heard any of the judges say a single bad thing about him so far, either - well, except for the time that Steven Tyler said Durbin "let him down" when he sang "Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" by singing it better than Tyler does! 8O

He'll get booted, he's got too much talent for that show:D

but any recording company that denies him would be complete idiots... If he could make some original content, he'd go INCREDIBLY far with that voice.

Interesting enough, James has already been performing for the public for a few years already. I watched some youtube videos of him going back to '08. Listen to him sing Kashmir by Led Zepplin, omg he's good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XU_-AIyHi4s

Sorry, I have been watching Idol from the beginning, your boyfriend is dead wrong as only the winner, the runner-up and at most 1 other contestant are getting signed. Also nobody can have an album out before the Winner and the runner-up albums are out. Also once Idol is over the few contestants that did get signed later on have lost the Idol momentum and the albums flopped.

James was safe last week and should he make it this week he will be on the American Idol Tour which Tour the USA and some Canadian cities. This would guaranty James to get some great training and exposure (including having a decent salary and perk benefits).

For his last week performance James wanted to sing a Skid Row song but Skid Row refused to clear the song. Lost of artists do not want their songs sang on American Idol or ask too much money for the clearance.

Starting now all contestants have a studio recording made available on ITunes. Great recording voice.

If you are in the US, please support him as this would be a great opportunity for him.

I am aware that only 1 or 2 are guaranteed a contract by "Idol." There are many other recording companies out there, though, and his thought is that somebody would sign him. I was unaware of the restriction on others putting out an album before those who are signed "by" Idol. That could present a big problem. It doesn't rule out some band who needs a singer having him tour with them, then being on their next record. I hear there's a band from Boston whose singer bailed out on them to go judge some talent competition. Wouldn't THAT be ironic!

As for this week, I'm gonna make a prediction: James is going to be in the top ten. He has the pipes, he has the attitude, and last night he proved he has moves and soul, too. They keep saying they're looking for "the whole package." I'd say it was on stage last night:

Anyone else want to make a prediction? We'll find out who's right in a little while.

Edited to add:
I WANT that jacket! 8)

James made the Top 10 and will be in the Idol Tour (50+ cities in the USA and 2 in Canada) and it was pretty funny how they announced it. James and another contestant Paul are big fans of wrestling the pulled on a cute one for James.

James was like a kid in a candy store this was so cute. Lots of great comments in many Forums as people are starting to really like James and his candid a liitle over the top reactions.

Next week the theme will be the 80's, James will have a good choice of songs as rock was huge at that time. Let's hope that the song he would like to sing will clear.

Several artists have done very well after losing on American Idol:
 • Chris Daughtry had two number one albums after getting fourth place, and has had more album sales than all other respective American Idol contestants including the winners, except for Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.
 • Bucky Covington had a number one album after getting eighth place.
 • Josh Gracin has had two top-five albums since getting fourth place.
 • Kellie Pickler has had two gold albums since getting seventh place.
 • Jennifer Hudson had a number one album after getting seventh place. She just released a new album a few days ago and it's currently number five on the iTunes Music Store.

I've been pointing that out to a lot of people lately too.... this is a heck of a season of Idol... I haven't really kept up with it the last few years because it just wasn't that great IMHO, but this year they have a wonderful group of VERY talented artists on the show. I think they all have the potential to go somewhere after this. As for James, he's awesome! I love him... my boyfriend has been in the music scene for 30 years and is pretty talented himself, and he is JEALOUS of this guy LOL Score one for the aspie!! !! ! I hope he makes it far, on or off Idol. His music completely makes his tics disappear, and that is just beautiful to me, it reminds me of how passionate he is about this.

They don't WANT people like us to win. We're not allowed. :(

It's always this way. They love to give us false hopes. as*holes!

It sounds like you are saying that he was eliminated because he has AS/Tourette's - as if his getting as far as he did was an elaborate joke. I can't agree.

He went quite far in a very competitive season - while he has been my favorite since his audition, he was up against some very, very good people. He had some amazing performances, but (IMHO) the last two weeks were not up to the same standard. Last week, he just plain wasn't that great - his emotions got in the way and caused some pitch problems in both songs. This week, I think he made a mistake by singing "Don't Stop Believing." The song has been everywhere lately, so it's, perhaps, too generic a choice. Secondly, the song is known for Steve Perry's effortlessly smooth pitch changes, and that is just not the way James sings.

I wish he had made it all the way to the final, but I can't be upset by his leaving after his performances last week and this week.

That said, I think that Idol has been his big break, and look forward to hearing him on the radio in the fairly near future.

The first time I saw him I thought he looked like my boyfriend (also aspie), and I thought why does he look so friendly... haha I should've known he has Aspergers - when my mom told me that explained everything :)

Give me a break!
I wish calling you a name was allowed by the moderators :x If an Aspie has talent they always succedes and James has talent. The other preformers fans voted more than James's fans its not some conspiracy against Aspies. Did you vote for him?

James Durban has talent and he got some great exposure he has a pretty good chance to make something of himself I hope he can make the best of it. :D

James is the only one out of the four left who could actually sing decently. No, I don't think he's the best performer I've ever seen on American Idol, but he isn't bad.
