I like to think I am more capable of disdain rather than hatred.
To me, hatred denotes that there is some occupation of resources internally, where I feel those resources could be better applied elsewhere. Hatred seems to be an active process, where disdain is implicit. I can extremely dislike something but not brood over the state of not liking such a thing, but rather try (keyword) to move intellectually into a higher place. Hatred is dwelling.
I think as Maje was to imply, that actively hating something does no good for the hater. The hater would be better served in some personal positive posturing rather than diminishing the self with negativity.
