I look mostly past the speaker at about ear level, or down, or at something else I can see.
I sneak a peek at the mouth occasionally but to look at the eyes feels just plain weird. Plus there's the problem of which one?

I make a kind of eye contact that is staring directly at their eyes, but in a way that my line of sight is somewhat blurred. Does that make sense? I think I subconsciously don't focus. I also never look away, which may be unnerving to people.

That makes sense to me. That is one way that I use to fake eye contact, especially if I'm really tired.

Usually, though, to fake eye contact, I just point my head in the direction of a person's eyes but I don't pay attention to what I am looking at. I see their face, but it really doesn't register on my mind.

That's interesting and I know what you mean!

I often don't register anything when looking at a person's eyes. I just think "Oh, those are pretty" or "Those are boring" or "Those are big" or "Those are small..."

I mostly look at a person's mouth when I really have to listen to what they say, but other then that it's all over the place. I gain a small skill in lip reading, but that's because eyes are hard to look into.
