I have it, and I have my real name, city, birthday, and everything on it. I doubt if anyone would care enough about me besides the other millions of FB members... I'm not a movie star or a politician or law enforcement officer, so I don't see any reason why anyone would mal-use my personal information. After all, Facebook or not, you can find out everything about anyone for a dollar or so, and if someone wants to find out something about you, they will anyway, so I don't worry about it.

With that said, I would be more worried for you, that your BF is ASKING you to get an FB account. I immediately see that as a possibility that he wants to keep tabs on you, and wants to have an arsenal of information about people you know, in case he decides he wants to be a controlling BF, and some day wants to falsely accuse you of carrying on with some other guy on FB, or wants to impeach something you tell him some time about where you were, or what you were doing on a certain day.

I use it because I like to see what others are doing. I only have 16 friends on it though, whereas everybody else seems to have like 800 friends on it (even my Autistic friend has, like, 600). Perhaps it's because I only add people who I know, not all and sundry.

Zuckerberg has been doing some very sketchy things with the private information of Facebook users as of late. It worries me.

As much as techies love to poke fun at Google for trying to take over the (virtual) world, Facebook's administration seems to not care about ethical business practices at all.

The average number of friends on Facebook seems to be about 130:

(just funny video in general, though the application of the Dunbar number to FB seems silly given that the standard deviation is probably really high)

Facebook is all about how you want to use it. If you add everyone, you will easily get hundreds of friends. Otherwise, you won't.

I just made a Facebook account YESTERDAY! Why? Because my (estranged) wife sent me an email asking me to friend HER on Facebook!
Maybe I've gone as crazy as she has?....

I have a Facebook account but I probably haven't logged in to it since maybe march or something... if that. I very rarely use it, it just isn't my sort of thing I guess. I don't really see what all the fuss is about Facebook. I just find it rather boring.

The only reason I'm not deleting my FB account is because my dad will only talk about our personal problems on FB.
