Math

What is your special interest? (State)

(I have more than one:) Computers and electronics, to some extent math and physics (especially in connection with electronics), gaming, sci-fi, some kinds of literature, liturgy and ancient/traditional religious practice (not just my own religion, I have an academical interest in other religious practices, especially ancient/traditional ones), philosophy, theology. They vary - I never have all of them simultaneously, but they always return intensively at some point or other. "Sudden ones" (like wolf keeping) may also emerge, be there intensively for a few weeks, and then disappear again for good.

Have you had any difficulties learning?
Yes

How did you overcome these difficulties? (State)

Since the difficulties were/are mostly due to lack of interest, I can now (for the most part) choose classes than interest me. Some of the problems may have been due to excessive sleepiness and attention problems; they're still there, but I'm being assessed for them so perhaps I'll get medication to alleviate them.

Did you have difficulty making friends?
Yes

How did you overcome these difficulties? (State)

I didn't, sort of. I have more friends than I manage to keep in contact with after all these years, but they're all people who share my interests or tolerate my personality. They more or less came to me, not the other way around.

Interest- and/or religion-based groups/organizations, and university, did put me in contact with most of those people, though.

Do you have any tics?
Yes

What are these tics? (State)

Verbal ticks/"blurts", and some physical jerking and contraction of facial muscles.

Have your parents ever been supportive of your disorder?
Yes

Have they ever supported/been interested in your special subject?
Yes

What is your current age?
21-25

What age did you get diagnosed with Aspergers/Autism?
Well. Not exactly diagnosed. 21 when they stated that it's likely I have Asperger's, but it wasn't an actual diagnosis.

Which of these areas does your special interest fall into?
Art
Computers
Other
Not sure

What is your special interest?
A computer game/tv show/movie/book I'm into and most of all some specific character from it. At the moment the Mass Effect games and I don't want to tell which character I'm obsessing over.

Have you had any difficulties learning?
Now I do, but it is not due to AS, but due to irrational fears I can't overcome.

How did you overcome these difficulties?
I haven't, and I don't understand how I possibly could.

Did you have difficulty making friends?
I've never tried to make friends, but the very few times that I've seen an interesting person and wished I could talk to them I couldn't go and do it.

Do you have any tics?
Yes, assuming you mean tics as in, feel like you have to do something and it being very hard, sometimes impossible to resist?

What are these tics?
Odd sudden movements of my arms, hands, neck and/or head. The urge to say a nonsensical sentence or word out loud. Counting during listening to music, not actually counting anything but more like just repeating a sentence over the beat but just numbers.
I have many stims also, but that is different. And they're too many to list here anyhow.

Have your parents ever been supportive of your disorder?
Yes

Have they ever supported/been interested in your special subject?
No/Sort of when it comes to some of them.
I tend to be ashamed of my interests so I don't usually talk about them, or talk about them in a more general sense than how I really think about them.

I am still working on it to be honest. I have to force myself into social situations when I don't want to as a way to keep myself from being a complete recluse.

16-20

What age did you get diagnosed with Aspergers/Autism?
1-5

Which of these areas does your special interest fall into?
Art

What is your special interest? (State)
I wouldn't say I have any specific one exactly, but most have more to do with art than anything else. I like to draw, read, and write stories, and I enjoy music, and vview video games, tv shows, and movies as art forms.

Have you had any difficulties learning?
Yes

How did you overcome these difficulties? (State)
I would say that math is my biggest problem, if we're just talking about school subjects. I can only do really basic math, and I have not seen a reason to try to overcome it as I don't care to find a job that would require anything overly complex.

Did you have difficulty making friends?
No

How did you overcome these difficulties? (State)
I don't think I had a very difficult time, perhaps due to generally seeming funny and having similar interests to those around me. I suppose I do have some trouble with being able to be closer to people, but that's more to do with relationships.

Do you have any tics?
No

What are these tics? (State)
