i see my perception as being a superpower (and so do my housemates, coincidentally); i usually see/hear things noone else can, though it's usually painfully high/loud/bright, so this is a double-sided medal :P

also, i appear to have some kind of psychic ability; which is best described as 'kirlian vision', or the ability to sence someones kirlian aura.
this is best explained as that special 'sense' the dudes in dragonball z have; i usually notice if someone is behind me, even on the rare occasions i did not see/hear them coming at the edge of my perception, and i have a better-then-normal (for an aspie) ability to detect general mood and if someone is ill or not; my first impression on character is correct 19/20 (again, 2-sided; it causes even more anxiety in groups then a 'normal' aspie would).

thirdly i too have a feeling for music; i'm able to master a new piece we play within a day or 2 of low-practice, by just hearing it performed once or twice.
also, my tuning is almost always correct when playing with the orcestra, no matter how off-key my instument is actually tuned (when played by someone else), this combined with the fact that my embouchure (musical stamnia) is near-limitless and very fast to recover has made me the principal euphonium player without needing practice, with the 2 others spending hours a day to keep up to orchestra level.
oh, and before you ask; yes, it is a top-level orchestra; getting easy 85+/100 on the highest non-professional level.

That's neat. :D

Perception is probably not my strong point. I used to be more intuitive, especially as a kid, but I think I've become more logical and less "sensing" over time. I think the world definitely favors certain modes of thinking over others.

I played piano for many years (starting when I was five years old), but I never had that sort of innate ability for it. I struggled greatly with reading music and only learned by ear. But even that wasn't all that great. I wasn't like some people who could hear a piece once and then be able to play it. Once I finally learned a piece, I could play it well. But it took me a very long time to reach that stage.

well, to put a damper on it; i dont learn the piece entirely by ear, if that is how you read it.
what i meant is that i get the piece in written notes; and master that in just a few days; intention, volume, timing, those things; i wish i could learn songs by ear that easily :P (tho i probarbly could, i just dont have the discipline to develop that skill :P)

I'm pretty good at coming up with ideas. I just don't know what to do with them, (damn my lack of social skills!) but I'm really active on Twitter, especially on local level and I keep up a blog on which I post my ideas. Some of them have actually been used by people; a guy who made a site that collects all the local blogs, news and tweets (he even acknowledged it was my idea). The local Twitter meeting. The political youth-cafe.

So, I don't know if I consider it a superpower, but since even the local politicians take my ideas seriously, it's something I can be pretty proud of!

Even so, that's pretty cool. :)

My old piano teacher was amazing. You could put any music in front of her and she could read it just like that. I'd always sit there staring at the notes and would need to decipher them each one-by-one. Half of the time it was this guessing game to figure out if the note I just played sounded like it should come next in the song. xD

I think that counts! I have never been politically active, but I'm always amazed at folks who are. I never really understood Twitter so much, but I know a few people who swear by it... apparently it's very good when you need to sell something or when you need to get news out quickly.

I have that "superpower" too, it's usefull for detecting people with bad intentions, but you also get to know alot more then you want to know about your friends. I think it's an advanced way of reading bodylanguage and/or theory of mind.

I think my memory can count as a superpower as well, I can recall anything I have ever given an extra thought sence the age of 4 (and some things before that too), and the memory about those ugly socks that I saw when I was 5 feels no more distant then those I saw yesterday.
(thou it can get me into trouble when it's combined with the compulsion of singing along to every song that I know the lyrics to.)

Can't decide whether or not hypersensetive hearing is a superpower or not, it's usually painful.

I can recall any episode of star trek (picard to janeway) and name it's season, the disc and the episode on that disc.

ergo "Chain of Command part 1" Season 6 disc 3 episode 2.
"the Inner Light" season 5 disc 7 episode 1.

I'm occasionally wrong.

Haha, awesome. I was never great at remembering numbers, but I could tell you the chronological order or what happened in certain episodes. As for Star Trek specifically, I really need to sit down and watch the series all the way through. I've only seen bits and pieces, but I enjoy it whenever I do watch it.

As for the hypersensitive hearing, I imagine it's both good and bad. Good, because you hear things that normal folks won't hear, but bad because it can be a liability. I remember at one point I wanted to have a hypersensitive nose, but after watching my dog react after she got "skunked", I decided it probably was good that I didn't have a strong sense of smell.

That's pretty amazing, actually. My memory is good, but not nearly that good. I can remember words that I haven't heard in a long time, particularly if they were in a foreign language... but simple things like people's names often escape me.

I'd encourage you to go download some, it's the only way to go to heaven!

I think it's mostly bad because things that you'd enjoy hearing can already be made loud enough (like music), most things you don't want to hear (plates clattering together, which is the worst for me) can't have their volume turned down, most sounds are not improved when they're louder.
Plus it's not so sensetive that i can hear a lot of things others can't, they hear the same stuff, I just hear it louder.

I'm good at many things, though my proudest talent is problem solving. At least compared to other women I know. If there's anything wrong I'll figure it out and fix it. I'm good at fixing things and providing practical solutions. The problem is that people seem to like to whine about problems rather than fixing them. I don't think my talent please anybody else but myself.

Sure... Doesn't everybody?

Oh, you wanted to know what it is? Well... look at it this way. There are thousands of different skills in the world. By sheer coincidence, chances are that any given person will be good at one or more of them--so good as to be in the top one percent, and better than most people he knows.

Superpowers is a rather dramatic name for the human mind's ability to specialize like that--but then, maybe it's appropriate. Specialization IS the human superpower!

You know how they say "if everybody's special, nobody's special"? SO not true. It presumes that there's only one possible way to be special, when in reality there are many ways.

My particular superpowers are probably research, writing, and logic, though I'm pretty good at crochet too.
