I'm not sure I have one.
Although I am utterly fascinated with hand to hand weapons and the various techniques for incapacitating, killing and damaging humans that can be used with them, it seems like a very broad interest to be the "narrow area of interest" oft-described.

I have quite a few special interests at current.

Music being the main one as I have always been a musician. Have gotten into the computer side of music over the years and now feel comfortable in both areas.

I have grown accustomed to writing in recent years, and I would like to script an english animé/manga and a few surreal comedies some day (if only I could draw  ). My father is an actor and I have thought about doing that as people say I would be good at it, but I feel I need lessons first, and I cannot deny I would love to be an actor.

In terms of hobbies, I study astrology a lot. I find it really interesting as a theory and although I don't base my life around it, it has always been intriguing to me ever since I was young.

I love football (soccer for americans), and I used to write down tactics on paper like a proper football manager. I just wasn't a very active child even though I had the build to be into sports.

Can't recall too much now off the top of my head, but there are more lol....

Am I odd for not liking to talk about my interests much?

One is Flash, which I manage to make a living with. However, dealing with clients has taken a lot of the fun out of it. And this is exactly why I've chosen not to pursue my other marketable interest, which is illustration. Unfortunately, that one is one that I resist pursuing now, due to the fact that it will take up every minute of my day if I get into it. And that means that my skills have not developed and in fact seem to have regressed. :-(

I have a couple other interests, but they have no practical value and they feel too personal to share, although I can't really logically say why.

Thank you so much! I LOVE the Simpsons and Lisa Simpson is one of my favorite characters because of her intelligence. Homer Simpson and Ralph Wiggum is so dumb and have a low IQ. I watch the Simpsons all the time and always can't wait until Sunday!

Lisa is my favorite too........my favorite episode is the last one in season 7 where she gets upset that she doesn't have any friends and tries to act cool on the summer vacation.

Japanese culture and painting/sketching.
I have other stuff I like too but thoose are the ones I've had for the longest time and that take most time.
I also always have a tv-series I watch, usually the same ones over and over again (Star Trek TNG, DS9 och Yoy, The X-files, Doctor Who and The Dead Zone)
I also love to collect stuff and lay/solve jigsaw puzzles, but don't see that as a special interest

When I was younger, it was ornithology, then interior design, then veterinary medicine, then marine biology, then primatology, then infectious diseases, thenTony Shalhoub and the resonator guitar. I have also always had an interest in art. In fact, I've even taken my friends to the art museum for my birthday before. And, yes, they are still friends with me. Aside from art, my current special interests also include psychology (which I'm majoring in) and Hugh Laurie (hence my picture).

Uh, currently:
Figure skating/ice skating in general.
Automotive/internal combustion engine powered things in general
Cooking and food
Japanese and some other foreign music, maybe music, eclectic music in general?
Maybe weight lifting and strength training now?

I used to have many more, and I still possess the knowledge of them, but I'm not actively "doing" them anymore, so I won't count those or mention them. Like I used to be a big anime fan, I still am, but I very rarely watch anime anymore, thus I don't count it anymore.

Now I'm getting back to an old special interest of mine which is Mexico. Pretty much everything about it.: geography, history, culture...
And also I'm interested in various fitness issues for a while. It used to be quite theoretical but then I started going to the gym and actually now it's kind of a special interest AND a routine for me.

I have several special interests at a time. One that I'm really into, right now, is Gothic Lolita, a type of street fashion from Japan.

People sometimes mistake it as having to do with the book/film called "Lolita" or some "fetish", "cosplay" or "age play". However, it has nothing to do with anything sexual. It's basically about cuteness and elegance rather than sex appeal.

Lolita started as a form of rebellion by young people who were reacting to the strict social norms in Japanese culture. It borrows some style elements from Rococo, Victorian, Edwardian, and 50s fashions.

I got into it because I love frills, lace, and girly things and since I'm odd, anyway, I was fascinated by the idea of fashion as rebellion and rejection of social norms.

None of girls in the pictures are me, by the way.

Gothic Lolita is just one style of Lolita Fashion (usually made up of black and white but navy is fairly common too). The girls in the pictures are not Gothic Lolita, the first one could be Country Lolita or Classic Lolita and pic number 2 shows two Sweet Lolitas.
