I can not stand to have my head touched, so I don't get hair cuts. My husband trims my hair for me though.

How do you cut your own hair?

Today is the day that I go for my Dreaded Haircut. The shrill sound of the Scissors sounds like the Sword Fights that they have in the Movies. When the Mystery Hairdresser of the Day uses the Blade Comb, it hurts. It tickles me when the back of my neck is getting shaved with the Clipper, and it's hard to stay still when it happens. And on top of that, they poof my hair up with those smelly Styling Products, when all that I want is a simple Bare Bones Haircut. The part that I dispize the most is the Small Talk. Sometimes I initiate the Small Talk, because I don't like to be asked questions and it's painfully hard for me to do without bringning up something about Austin Powers at least once, and I try my darndest not to mention anything about London, England. The rest of the Hairdressers and their customers make enough comments about my Accent. I don't need them to double the comments.

However, I go through the trouble, because I like my hair to be short.

You have my sympathy Cockney Rebel- my hair is getting to the too thick stage again so I'm going to have to brave the hairdresser myself soon- either that or I'll get myself some thining scissors.

The worst thing is that not only is going such an ordeal you actually have to pay for the privelage (and its not cheap).

My mom forces me to get my haircut. I tell her "Its my hair and I want it left alone" but its no use. I want to keep my hair (Keeps the head warm) and I can't STAND it when people touch me. Another thing is I hate taking to people and you pretty much have to talk when the person cutting your hair is cutting. They always ask stuff like "How's school" and all that. The worst part is the shaving thing they use. Hurts my ears.

:(

It's an old English joke - anybody with a really bad haircut is said to have had it cut "with a pudding bowl on their head".

Thanks for clearing that up Stevie. I couldn't imagine how it was used. They must be big bowls.

I think it was usually just kids who were subjected to having their hair cut this way.

I'm sorry Melvis, I'm just getting these really weird pictures of a child with a bowl on its head. Oh wait! Do you mean cutting hair in the Prince William style. Where it is cut at an angle around the head?! Kind of like a Beatles haircut. That was very popular in the 70's. I cut my sons hair like that!

That's basically what an official "pudding bowl" cut is, but I think its accepted as a term for many different kinds of bad 'do.

And you deliberately make your son into a "pudding bowl head"? That's unforgiveable....

LOL Stevie! In the 70's it was really cool! I might even go so far as to say it was very forgiveable!

The worst hairdressers(why do they call them that they dont dress in hair) are the ones who talk nonstop about themselves.

I just discovered this old thread, and decided to revive it...

I need to get a haircut. My hair is getting long, and it generally needs some tidying up. However, I don't like going to the barber. It's hard to describe how I want my hair to be, and making sure that it becomes that way. Sometimes, too much hair gets cut off. Or I'm too nervous, and I hardly get my hair cut at all. Anyone here that have similar problems? How do you solve this?

I do my own haircuts.

I am quite good at it now. I can even do the back.

I have a pair of clippers and generally just give myself a grade II all over but I have done other styles too, this time I am letting it grow and gonna give myself a cut that I used to have when I was younger.

All you need is mirrors and lots of them and an ability to think in reverse.
