I'm obsessed with The Kinks, because they're the one British group that didn't go psychedelic in the 60s and they recorded songs about things that I can relate, instead of just love and relationships all the time. They also respected God and Jesus where as John Lennon said that The Beatles were more popular than Jesus. I also look like Mick Avory did in the beginning and have similar morals that he had, and my opinion is all that matters in regards of my looks. I see myself in the mirror throughout the day. I should know. 8)

You like them because they were conservative?

Mine is the Scottish rock band Travis and the Italian classical artist Ludovico Einaudi, I adore both because of the amount of joy they've brought into my life

my second teir special itnerests are political science (socialist history and theory in particular) and sociology.

Wow, that sounds like such an interesting job! What exactly do you do, how did you get into it, do you enjoy it?
Sorry for the overload of questions! It's just, I've only ever met 3 other people who know what 'psychopharmacology' MEANS, let alone likes it.

I am still looking for a post-bacc job to do for research experience before grad school. (I ultimately want to be a neuroscience professor.) So, I hope to be part of conducting some study on a neuropsych disorder of some kind, helping to collect the data and administer tests and such. I got into neuropsychiatry when I first started getting diagnosed with things in high school. I majored in neuroscience and have a bachelor's degree in the area. I love the subject, and I hope to be able to help create actual diagnostic tests for disorders in the future, as well as maybe figure out a way to better know which medication would work with whom (rather than the current system of trial and error). Feel free to PM me if you ever want to have pharmacology discussions! :D

Good luck! Seems like a very worthwhile endeavour. And I would, but I'm absolutely awful at starting conversations about a certain topic. :P

My current obsession is with Brittana on Glee, or just Glee in general. This one sort of snuck up on me and I can't stop! I haven't had a special interest this bad in a long time. I feel legitimately scared about the end of the season. Don't even get me started on the end of the current cast next year.

Also, as people seem to be adding quite a few... My ultimate obsession is obviously psychopharmacology, but I'm also heavily into veganism (like, the ins and outs of a vegan diet etc), piercings, hypnosis, acting, writings, cats, gaming, creative writing and clinical psychology. :) Also belly & burlesque dance!

Interests I have always had:

Religion: As a child and teenager I grew up Episcopal. I was involved in everything from bible study to acolyting (helping the priest during service). My late teen years and early adult years I started exploring every other religion (including taboo) religions. From my mid twenties to now I have been pretty much an atheist. After going to college and studying Geology, I found the whole organized religion thing to be a "little" off on their dates.

Meteorology: As a child I was facinated with rain storms, lightning, tornados, and hurricanes (I grew up in New Orleans). From my teenage years to today, I love listening to all the technical terms and watching how things work on the radar. The Weather Channel is on in my house daily and has been since about 1992.

Geology: As a child I would collect rocks and do everything to learn about them, how they were formed, and how old they were. In my adult years I took every Geology class I could and I still pull over to look at formations while driving.

Sociology and Psychology: I took my first Psychology class in the early nineties. When I saw the movie Sybil, in one of my classes, I became facinated. To this day, I still think about one or the other each day. I am always coming up with theories and would love to prove one of them one day. These have been the most prominate interests in my life. I have an AA in Psychology and an AA in Sociology. I am working on my Bachelors in Sociology with a minor in Psych right now. My life long dream is to do research to figure out why people do the things they do.

Movies: I have seen most movies out there. I usually watch them because certain actors/actresses, that I like, are in them, they are History or Documentary related, Horror movies to see how real they can make things seem, and to sit and watch them, looking for technical flaws lol.

Music: I am quite eclectic when it comes to genres, but my list of artists in each genre are limited. My favorite artist is Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails). I have been "obsessed" for 22 years and finally got a Nails tattoo in 2009. Listening to his music (especially The Fragile and his later piano intertwined music) has been a coping mechinism of mine for the longest time.

Card games and strategy games: When I was a child my father taught me to play spades and chess. Since then I have learned how to play Risk, Magic the Gathering, Cribbage, Canasta, Rummy, Blackjack, Poker (every form possible), and Pinochle. This is one of my favorite things to do and 95% of the time am interested. A lot of people don't like playing with me because I am excellent at stragedy.

Hiking and Camping: I have always enjoyed the quietness and calmness of the outdoors. The farther away from society the better.

Anything considered Taboo: Serial killers, polygamists, tattoos, piercing, cults, satanism, wicca and paganism, atheism, homosexuality and the right to get married, fetishes, Hitler/Charles Manson/Jim Jones (I find their manipulative ways facinating), physician/family assisted suicide, abortion, UFOs, the paranormal and others I can't think of.

Car racing, motorcycle racing are my long-time obsessions.I like the speed, I like the technology and I like the danger. I also can get pretty focused on video games, puzzles, music, my school work etc. If I become interested in something, I want to know everything about the subject.

Exercise/Nutrition: Because I want to find the best way to look like a stallion stud and make the women drool.

Philosophy of physics/mind-body problem: Because I wonder what kinda of "stuff" reality would need to be composed of to allow for the birth of consciousness/the mental/qualia? I like C. McGinn's quote:

"To represent consciousness as it is in itself - neat, as it were - we would need to let go of the spatial skeleton of our thought. But, according to the Strawsonian thesis, that would be to let go of the very notion of a proposition, leaving us nothing to think with. So there is no real prospect of our achieving a spatially nonderivative style of thought about consciousness. But then, there is no prospect of our developing a set of concepts that is truly adequate to the intrinsic nature of consciousness; we will always be haunted by the ill-fitting spatial scheme. No doubt this lies behind the sense of total theoretical blankness that attends our attempts to fathom the nature of consciousness; we stare agape in a vacuum of incomprehension."

I'm hoping McGinn is wrong.

The relationship between introversion/HSP/AS/SAD Because I want to know why I'm so fukd up.

One that has been capturing me lately is World War II era naval ships... any class really. Always amazed me the immense effort put into building them and then their fate following the war.

its usually plants or neopagan religions but right now its autism/aspergers or it would be had i the time to research it. i have too much work to allow myself the luxury of researching it- you know how it gets when you really get into something. all consuming. in 2 weeks maybe if the urge is still there... i guess its fascinating because it allows me some insight into how peoples minds work. the human mind makes an excellent study subject. god i want to research it sooo bad.

Wrll which means watch, read, listen, look

I am trying to be able to watch anything and so forth. An example is if one of my favorite teams lose and I see they lose before I watch the match I want to be able to still watch it.

Making music on my computer: Mostly electronic-oriented music.
Theoretical physics: Obsession I have had since I was twelve.
Philosophy: I found this out at high school, mostly scientific philosophy though.
Math: Everything is so logical, and means nothing. :D
Photoshop: And I'm good at it.
Making movies: And in 3D. :o
Playing boardgames: And I almost never lose.
Making cappuccino: this one is recent, but everything in the coffee has to be perfect.
Watching Fringe and The Big Bang Theory and South Park: Download it every week from the moment that I see I can, get annoyed when someone stops me from watching it.

I don't have all of these at once.
