Remember this: You're an Aspie and you can figure out a creative workaround to almost anything (social, career, school, technical)!

Being an aspie's supposed to bring all that creative and original thinking, but I'm not blessed with it.

I have not yet figured out how to sustain the appearance of "normalcy" for long spans of time. It is exhausting and stressful. I have found I have to have some down time to calm back down, then I can go back to it.

I agree that this is very difficult (if not impossible).

I've come to this decision through out my life: I am me. I am not that girl dancing on TV or that iconic girl from a commercial. I have truly found that the harder I search for people who will accept me, the better the gold at the end of the rainbow. Rest assured that I won't go off in a cape and cat suit terrorizing society with random meows and hisses. I only terrorize people who know me with the meowing and hisses(seriously). Anyway, I will always be me and nothing will ever, ever change that. If I run to a foriegn country in hopes of losing me then, I will find that somehow me followed itself to Saudi Arabia. No matter how hard I try to be a NT I will still always be an AS. Yes, I try to be an NT but I should never deny who I am.

Not necessarily. I certainly wouldn't call myself creative. But I do excel in understanding problems and implementing solutions for them. What things specificially are you good at?

Some people would call my talents "creative", and I might be mistaken, but I see creativity as being able to paint, draw, write, and compose. I do none of those things very well.

Of course everyone does not interpret creativity in the same way so I don't think you can generalize (not accusing you specifically) as to what individuals with AS are "good" or "bad" at because of the diversity of our interests. I may not see your specific talents as creative, but to others they are creative as they get.

I meant exactly that creativity, the thinking outside of the box/original solutions kind. That's the kind usually associated to AS, but I don't have it. The only good thing I have is being able to find the conventional solution pretty fast. But that isn't nearly as cool.
Anyway, you're right, generalizations are never good.

Thinking up original solutions is Aspie creativity. That's why many of us make such good engineers.

I've said things a few times, thinking 'Gee, what a moron this person is' thinking it to be obvious but they didn't see at all.

It could be my brainwiring. I roleplay, could that be considered creative?

I have big problems acting NT, not just because of possible AS but because of my eccentric family and unusal upbringing. Over the years i've learnt not to do somethings that might upset people and i've learnt some social conventions, or figured social rules out in my head. I'm usually able to get along all right with work collegues and people i have to interact with closely on a day to day basis. But i suspect most people do and allways will think me very odd and wierd.
I'm lucky, most people i've met have thought me odd but have made allowences, or been patient enough to allow me the time to show them that i'm not as aloof, insensitive, awkward or intimidating as they might think i am. I have no idea what people i meet briefly think of me, bad things proably.
I try to be nice and i try not to hurt people feelings, make them uncomfortable etc. because i'm a kind person and i don't like upsetting others. However i will proably never be able to follow other peoples thoughts properly. So i wont know that there annoyed or upset with me....and there's nothing i can do about that.
For those who i know reasonably well, i tell them that they have to 'tell' me if the'r upset, i'm doing something wrong etc. I find that if people are encouraged to tell me things and not just expect me to know stuff, its a lot easier to avoid misunderstandings.
Basically, i have to try hard and make an effort to relate well to other people, but then other people have to try hard to relate to me. We have to meet each other half way!!

In youth, it was a way I had
To do my best to please,
And change, with every passing lad,
To suit his theories.

But now I know the things I know,
And do the things I do;
And if you do not like me so,
To hell, my love, with you!

I never did see catwoman. I don't really feel like subjecting myself to a movie that I already know is horrible. I did like catwoman in batman:returns. Now she was crazy... :jester:
