Both genders:

When you're done taking a poop, wipe your a** with toilet paper. Especially if what comes out looks more like a chocolate milkshake than something solid.

That's not related to hygiene. That's called having fussy manners.

I was never taught that it's wrong to blow one's nose in public. Far better to blow your nose than to leave it and have it running all down your face.

I've heard since I was six that it's rude to blow your nose at the table. I am not sure about public places but that didn't surprise me when she said it. I can remember my teacher making this boy in my class blow his nose right next to the trash cans where kids dump their food and trash. I remember in school kids would blow their nose at the trash can. I guess that is the right spot to do it.

I suppose it just depends on the culture / family you were raised in. Different people have different standards of what constitutes good manners. I was raised to believe that blowing one's nose is the polite way to deal with a runny nose, as opposed to trying to sniff it back in and making a rude noise. It's interesting to learn that you were taught something different.

As I already pointed out, blowing your nose isn't really about hygiene, anyway, so let's not hi-jack this and turn it into a "differing cultural manners" thread. :)

It's not rock n roll to smell like a smokable substance and it can actually make others feel ill.

Don't wear something if it has a permanent stain on it - unless you're doing gardening/decorating.

For some reason, some people hate the wonderful smell of garlic. Suck a mint, if you can stand the taste of mint.

I have one. Scrub out the inside of the regridgerator and freezer every once in a while. And replace your old grotesque moldy sponges. I'm sensitive to funky mold smells and might just get a severe headache or pass out. :eew:

As with a lot of posts in this thread, the three things you mention are not related to hygiene.

Some people commenting here don't seem to know what hygiene even is.

Bad manners are not unhygienic.
Dressing in old clothes is not unhygienic.
Garlic breath is not unhygienic. (Garlic is a potent disinfectant. You may not like the smell of it as much as the smell of Listerine, but it's not unhygienic).
Blowing one's nose is not unhygienic. It's infinitely preferable to the other alternatives.

Here's a link for the people who need to know what "hygiene" means:

I don't want to sound like I'm being argumentative here, but I wasn't thinking about the actual definition. I'm taking the broader, popular meaning - not just body cleanliness, but also smells/clothing.

I love the smell of garlic, btw - to the dismay of many.

*Change your shirt, underwear, and socks every day, your pants every couple of days, and your hoodie, jacket, or cardigan at least once a week.
*If you already showered and put on deodorant, but you have B.O. because you've been sweating, reapply deodorant. You can also put on cologne or perfume if you want to--but not too much. If you still smell, take an extra shower.
*Wash your hands after you blow your nose.

When I worked in a machineshop my hands would be coated in a gray mess that was a mix of aluminum dust, WD-40, and skin oil. I left finger prints on everything I touched. My face would be marked up by the end of the day I would look in a mirror and see how marked up my face was and not remember ever touching my face. My coworkers would say I looked like the Wild Man from Borneo or accuse me of wearing war paint.

Not me, I put them in my tormentor's food or hair when they are not looking. :P
