I was really good at it up to about Year 10, then because of

1. Not taking the time to understand/not having any explanation of why things worked

2. Not being able to take any more of grinding out the same equations 20 times in a row with different numbers

it fell by the wayside. I'm teaching myself again now; I want to understand advanced mathematics.

Was anyone else really bad at geometry? I feel like I did OKAY (meaning mediocre...wasn't good at it by any means) in algebra, but geometry puzzled me. I'm not really a visual learner.

I'm more of a visual learner but was awful at geometry. I had a really tough teacher and even came close to failing one semester. I'm lucky I passed with a 'C'.

I had a hard time with math until I figured out how to translate how it's normally taught into something I could understand. OTOH, I still suck at arithmetic.

IMO math "naturals" are the worst people to teach the subject (unless it is to other "naturals.")

I really struggled with math in school. Now ok, with arithematic and plane geometry, but by no means a whiz. Algebra and beyond, forget it. Both my parents and brother have very strong math skills. My parents also have many Aspie traits.

my Dyscalculia + my short term memory keep me from understanding it and retaining what I've learned... I have found that once it does click, if I take my time and re-evaluate my work a few times, I can be very good at it.

Me too. Geometry was hard, even though I'm also a visual learner and I find algebra to be easy.

But yeah, I am the stereotypical mathematically inclined aspie.

I can do basic math and geometry. I got my elementary algebra book yesterday for college, I looked at it, and then laughed and closed it immediately, I am AWFUL at math above the basics, save for geometry...somehow...

I used to rock at Algebra. I scored the highest on some district wide test or another, believe it or not. But with me it's use it or lose it. Let's just say I haven't 'Used' it in over a decade.

I'm reasonably good at it, but by no means am I brilliant at maths. I got an 'A' at GCSE and am doing it for A-Level (cripes), but I got that through very hard work. I'm hoping I'll be good at A-Level because it covers more algebra, which is what I find the most interesting. I'm not terribly good at statistics and mental arithmetic though.

I am NT and I am good at maths. And science was my favourite subject in school.

The common knowledge "some people are good at math and some people are bad at math" seems to be true. Wonders.

Had the football/wrestling coach for Geometry The baseball coach for algebra - got through with D- Took physics (not a coach this time) loved it ! !! lost credit because I didn't know trig and got the right answers using methods I made up. the teacher had a lot of trouble understanding how I got the right answers.
Present day Love chaos theory non linear equations are fun.

This makes way more sense. I wish this was the stereotype NT's had of us, instead of thinking we're all math geniuses.

I think i still have an old school report that said im a natural mathematician. It was never really my passion though, i just find it fun to solve problems.

Science was interesting enough but its mostly just facts, maths i found fun because you're endlessly trying to figure things out. With maths you can't just memorise things, you have to gain understanding on how the system works. Even though it's mostly in your head, i like how practical it is.
