Hehe! No! I just did it, - but within a split second, I had pictured a pair of strategies, if things should go wrong :D That´s the funny thing. It was just like a reflex. I have tried it a couple of times.
Actually nice to know, that there is a reserve like that for potential dangerous situations in the future  .

You have very good survival instincts--which puts you in good stead in an emergency.

You'd make a good paramedic, actually. Paramedics have to be resourceful and "think on their feet."

I did not have more marked problems with literal interpretations in my life. I remember that when I was at the fourth grade in elementary school my teacher said about my "essay-like" work which was written on the lesson that I "poured water" (in Polish: "lałem wodę"). When I heard it, I thought about literal pouring of water (maybe even in pictures :) ), but I did not remember that I had poured water (so why the teacher said it?) and the situation was misunderstood by me. I remeber that I did not tell something which would be funny after hearing it, so the class did not have fun because of my misinterpretation. I did not understand this metaphor (which means "to waffle", something like "to tell/write too much, not on the topic") and took it literally.

Yes, I suppose, I do, but at the same time, I can be a total whimp on shivering legs in other, far less demanding situations, like entering an automatic door (hate them) - because, I am given time to think and then I may picture the absolutely worst outcome.
I´m not sure about the paramedic thing, as fast situations, especially acting fast per order, typically confuse me.
That´s my aspieness, I guess. I´m best on my own.
Typical, I believe.
What about you? (eh, we musn´t highjack the thread!)

You're right!

I tend to do better when I don't have to "think" too much.

As far as "funny literal moments" are concerned....there are many! I always believe that a rhetorical question is a real question, requiring answer. This has resulted in many hilarious moments.

Now this one is at least R Rated - but I really did take it literally at the time and it took me awhile to get over the shock and find out what they really meant.

Someone was describing a party they were at with these words, "Everybody was sitting around sucking on fags."

I won't elaborate on the mental image that got stuck in my mind.

"R" rated means that it is sexual or violent material, or that a considerable amount of profanity is used--but it's relatively mild as compared to an "NC-17" or "X-rated" movie

Kids 17 and under (I believe--that's the way it was in the 1990s) cannot see an "R"-rated movie unless accompanied by someone 18 or above.

movies in America are rated G - for fine for children - GP - might be okay for children but Parental Guidance is suggested - R - for adults and perhaps older kids accompanied by adults and X - strictly for adults only

Ok, thanks. So it is a measure of how extreme, it is?

On internet chat:

Someone: - How is your day going?
Me: - Just like any other day. Nothing special happened today so far.
(Correct answer: "Fine, how about yours?")

Someone: - What are you currently doing?
Me: - I'm chatting with you.
(Correct answer: "I am studying IT")

Just this morning, I was buying a filled long john doughnut from a gas station. The cashier couldn't see the doughnut in the paper bag, so she asked, "Does the doughnut have a hole?" (as in, is it a ring shape)

"Yes!

.....

Wait, no."

Because, long johns do have a hole....where they pipe the filling in. She looked at me like I was an idiot.
