My eating habits. I simply eat too fast compared to everybody else. I have slowed down but it is still noticeable. Added that I take bigger portions of food as well.

People have told me to "slow down." I got that in high school and my husband has said that to me too a couple of times. Last time he said that to me, we were on a honeymoon and I got mad at him for it and moved to another table. But if anyone tells me to slow down, I feel very angry and I feel like throwing my food at them.

What quirks have been pointed out to me?

--The way I eat is something that's been brought up.
--I became a vegetarian back in 2004 and that one gets people raising their eyebrows at me often.
--My mom says "I'm just joking", though sometimes I get the impression she says that to save face.
--My older brother used to tell me to stop acting like a girl back in elementary school (I wasn't doing it on purpose).
--I have a copy of my psych. evaluation that I had done for Vocational Rehabilitation and the psychiatrist who saw me who said in the report that I rarely smiled since I'm talking about something that interested me. Also, been told to smile before.
--I drive people nuts enough with the way I think and can't make up my mind on the spot. I am a very slow thinker and I hate to be put on the spot. It's like having a battery powered chess game and you put the computer on the highest difficulty and you push the button to force the computer to move instead of allowing it to think. That's what it's like for me to be put on the spot.

-Slow down! -- I'm the 'near' epitome of impatience.

-Eye contact can be poor, " why do you look at me when you are talking to someone else." :lmao:

- moving hands across the face or temple. This is not to relieve a scratch, but seems to help me re-center or re-focus my thoughts because I can zone out/drift..... a subconscious trick I believe.

I remember my doctor describing my eye contact as being minimal.

What's wrong?
Are you sad?
You must be lying because you can't look at me.
Aren't you ever happy?
Are you alive?
You live in your own world.
Grow up.

When I was a kid other kids often made fun of my tics. Some people still ask "Why are you doing that?" about some tics I have.

Some people have told me the way I walk is weird.

"Why don't you EAT?"

"Are you OK?"

"What are you looking at?"

"Are you angry at me?"

As a kid I was told I was:

Selfish
Show off
Think I'm better than others
Think I am so cool
Weird
Crazy
Insane

Kids also made comments about how I ate
I also would over hear kids say "Look at Beth"
Kids also said I talked funny
Kids have pointed out my odd facial features

"why do you look angry all the time?"
"Did you know you were jostling your leg?"
"Are you talking to yourself" (my lips move when I think, apparently)
"How come you never ask me how I am?"
"You never say goodbye, you just leave!"
"How come you never look at me?"

I've been told that:

my voice is to loud,
I always wear the same T shirt on a Friday,
I don't talk enough,
I talk too much,
I'm child-like,
I'm too aggressive,
I walk wrong,
I dress like a boy or I dress inappropriately,
I look as though I'm not paying attention,
I take things too literally,
I look as though I'm going to knock someone out

"is that your funny run?"
"stop blushing" (to my blinking tic).
"what are you doing with your head" (at another of my tics, NT's usually mimic my tics back at me which annoys the hell out of me).
"Your speech is back-to-front" my grammer is back-to-front

Hi,

I realize this thread is about a year old now,
but I came across it via search and thought I'd share.

"smiiiiiiile, it's not that bad"/"Are you alright???" this one is quite annoying as I appear annoyed or troubled when I'm not, or just deep in thought. Someone also gave me the nickname "smiler" (meaning the opposite obviously)
"Will you sit still!! !!"/"Would you stop fidgetting!?"
"I love your reactions"
"I think you have OCD"
"You're too weird for us" - yes, someone told me over the phone when I was about 15 or so that I was too weird for them to hang around with, my social skills at this point weren't the best. But it's okay, I didn't really like many from that group anyway.
"Do you listen to anything other than metal??"
A couple of times I've apparently smirked without realizing it
sniggering or smirking after thinking of something funny (even in the middle of work)
When I was around 12/13 and younger I used to stare/watch people, and a couple of them reacted to it. (I have to stop myself from doing that sort of thing still at times.)
"bit slow on the uptake there?"
"Why do you find that funny??" - I have a tendency to find silly noises like people blowing their noses noisily funny, or having a weird laugh etc.
"You are so creative"
"The only person who can cheer me up when I'm annoyed is him with the things he comes off with!!"
A teacher told my parents when I was a kid that I had problems copying things down off the board.

I've been living in Canada my whole life and the quirk that people seem to pick up on the most is my Cockney accent. I hope this answers another question that some people might have. I also don't want any nasty jokes made up about this like the one I've found when I've Googled myself a year ago.

- You look stoned
- Poor eye contact
- Speaking too fast
- Interrupting People in conversation (even if the person I interrupt is a lying pompous ass that I can't take any more)
- Sounding like a "know it all"
