Really, anything with a rainbow will automatically get associated with the LGBT community.
I have nothing at all against them, just from a logo design perspective, those colors are already taken.
I would also shy away from any color combinations associated with any nations.

Logos & symbols are tough to come up with since one group wouldn't want to get confused with any other group.

BTW: I was just kidding with the Dr Evil suggestion. And the shark.

Personally, now that I've had some time to think about it, I like the idea of this for either autism in general or Asperger's specifically:

Image

I've begun to think of it by its file name on my computer: The M_Im_Cube (mimcube).

For what it's worth...

Edit: For some reason, the image won't display. But if you go to
The Wayshelter (http://wayshelter.com)
and scroll down, you should eventually see it.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Essentially, it's an M.C.Escher cube with an infinity symbol inside. cool.

Well, it's actually a mobius (sorry, don't know if this is the correct spelling) strip inside that impossible cube. Escher used both in his work. Ever seen the strip with the ants crawling on it? Anyway, glad you liked it.

Picking a symbol like a cat to emphasize independence when most autistics are totally dependent on other people seems like a bad choice.

I like the sqaure and the circle since it's simple.

Well are cats really independent? I think that most are at least partly dependant on humans. Also it's more of independent thought and a preference for working independently than a complete lack of dependence on someone else.

Cats aren't independent. They're the enlightened masters of the human race. They've worked very hard for millenia to breed us into their dedicated servants. :P

nat4200, if the rainbow won't work out because it's already taken, if cats are preferred around here, and if you like the idea of either the outline or silhouette of a head or a brain in profile, why not a cat on a head or a brain - or a cat on a brain in a head? People often think black cats are evil, but they're misunderstood because people are superstitious. Why not a black cat on a white brain on a black head? I'd say we could even go with red, green, and blue, for light colors on a computer screen, but I think that might be too glaring. Nevermind that one. Black and white would be more simple - something someone could draw right on the spot.

I'm sorry to say I can't look at the moving pink cat with the rainbow exhaust and the stars around it for very long at a time. It's not that it isn't nice. I just have to look away after a short time. I don't mean to offend.

What it actully symbolizes. I had no problem with it until I discovered what it meant.

I looked up the meaning of the symbol and didn't find anything objectionable. Is there some other meaning that people did not know about when they chose it?

You like being called a puzzle that must be solved? It's also the symbol of Autism speak, which is almost unanimously hated by autistic people.
