Yes, I have that too. It is ADHD: a fairly common comorbidity of Asperger Syndrome. Or is it?

Apparently, they are not comorbid at all, but the symptoms are similar. That is new to me. Living and learning, as they say.

The DSM-IV is out of date. There's enough research to demonstrate that there's a pretty strong association between the two disorders.

Current thought seems to be that the assumption that the two cannot coexist is erroneous.

I really tend to mimic people around me, personally. If I'm around people older than me I'll act above my age, if I'm around people my age I'll act my age. I wouldn't consider myself hyper though. I have an odd sense of humor, but I wouldn't really call that hyper.

Maybe it's because if you're around people, you have to suppress a lot of your urges because you're not supposed to act a certain way and at one point there's too much energy stored inside of you that you have to get rid off?

I'm only really hyper when I can act naturally or when I have had a stressful day.

Just based on what I see here I think most Aspies are calm but I've wondered about the Aspies with ADHD-H.

I do act my age, in many ways but people assume I'm younger. I'm still hyper at 27 and I was a maniac as a kid. Maniac. I didn't understand how fast I talked until I was about 11, they gave me a few MRIs and CT scans because they thought was something was neurologically wrong. Fast talking, fast walking, fast everything and severe behavioral issues.

I can tone myself down now but sometimes it really takes work,

I'm 36 and still act like a stupid teenager. I like to slide around on my wood floors in my house, wave at random people in cars and hang my arm/hand out the window out of a moving car and pretend it's a plane of sorts. I'm sure not many other adults acts as childish as I do, but it's fun, I enjoy it, my kids think I'm "fun" and I'm not hurting anyone, so I don't really care. Does that sound like ADHD? I was diagnosed hyper-active as a child and I know I cannot concentrate on anything for very long as an adult unless I'm VERY interested in it. *scratches head*

I'm not sure if I act my age when hyper or not. Sometimes when I'm talking a lot over nothing, my dad says, ''can you be quiet for 5 minutes?'', but not sure if it's due to acting hyper or not acting my age. I'm not really one to be hyper. I only not act my age when I'm in a temper over something, I tend to sulk and throw stuff on the floor like a 3-year-old.

I'm like that, except it's with dogs. I have to say hi to every dog that I see.

Most definately, I don't feel nowhere my age of 24 I feel more 15 actually. Not sure on the hyperactivity bit, since I'm a lazy git. :P

If a person has ASD alone with nothing else they are NOT hyper. Period.

However there are people with ASD that ALSO have ADHD and then of course they are hyper.

This question is not a matter of opinion it is a diagnostic fact.

Why say "act hyper nor?" That's not grammatically correct.

Well, in any case, most Aspies do not act "there" age.

Some don't act their age though. I sometimes act much older.
