I got a 14.

I don't understand how answering "no" to the question of whether it's upsetting to see an animal in pain would make sense for an aspie. Most of us value animals much more than we do people - of course we're going to be upset.

I got a 22. However, there were many questions I had a difficult time answering because of the limited nature of my social situations. Trying to answer questions about things that haven't come up in a while is confusing. Many of them could have gone either way.

When I hit the button for my score, I thought it was going to be pretty high, I was envisioning somewhere in the 40s for some reason...I got a 16! 8O

But I didn't really like the questions very much, they were not specific enough, and the answer would be different depending on the situation. Also, I didn't really see how some of those questions were related to empathy.

I'm a little disappointed since I thought I was doing better with expressing/ understanding empathy, but I scored 10.
I don't consider simple tests like these conclusive, especially when some questions are not at all empathy related.

One thing I haven't and will not be able to change is respecting another persons opinion, even though I know they are wrong. There is no logic to a scientifically right and wrong answer.

Your score: 14
0 - 32 = low (most people with Asperger Syndrome or high-functioning autism score about 20)
33 - 52 = average (most women score about 47 and most men score about 42)
53 - 63 is above average
64 - 80 is very high
80 is maximum

I scored 17, and am a plenty empathetic and sympathetic person. I even stop when i see a dead possum by the side of the road, and reach into it's bloody orifices to try to save its children! I doubt this test.

I agree this test doesn't measure empathy. I'm also empathetic but need to tune people out much of the time otherwise picking up on everyone's feelings is too overwhelming and although I'm able to tell how others are feeling (when I'm paying attention) I'm at a loss as to what to say to them in regards to their feelings. Very nice that you would scoop the baby opossums out.

I took this test a few months ago, and scored a 7 ! However, other tests have proved me deficient in some areas of empathy, but more than sufficient in others. I recommend the IRI test instead.

67.

I have too much empathy which I usually have to shut off in order to function well.
I do not however, understand social rules instinctively, otherwise it probably would have been higher. ( and I wouldn't be aspie  )
