So, this is what it's like to not have AS and be normal 4-FA

I have had a lot of success making a conscious decision to turn down my internal censor so that the default setting is that it's probably okay to go ahead and say it unless it really jumps out at me as clearly inappropriate.
That combined with short intros like "How's the game going?" And maybe the person feels like talking, maybe he or she doesn't, and either way is perfectly okay.
So it cures social anxiety and introversion?
I don't have social anxiety and I don't see my introversion as a problem.
Like I said, it won't do much for you if you like introversion. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that by any means though. The thread title/post was about me personally.
Does it do anything for social cluelessness, language problems and problems with reading nonverbal signals/giving off odd nonverbal signals?
Let me put it this way: In a conversation normally I'll have a LOT of trouble keeping it going, and have trouble putting thoughts in to words, while when I take the 4-FA, I can keep a good conversation going on for hours and be perfectly coherent about it. I learned social norms/nonverbal signals on my own.
Interesting. What do you think it's doing to have that effect, neurologically speaking?

Well, it's main mechanisms of action are releasing dopamine, which gives motivation and is also the chemical that makes you feel happiness/love/joy, releasing norepinephrine, which makes you more awake and alert. Adderall does those two things too. 4-FA also releases serotonin, which is the chemical responsible for having a desire to form relationships and "makes you open up", as in you stop worrying so much about what people think of you. These chemicals do a lot more than I listed, but those are the effects relevant to this.
I don't know what part of it makes conversation so much more fluid, but that definetly is a big part of the effects for me.
Ritalin makes me more social, decreases sensory issues, depressed and angsty feelings and the usual better memory/focus.
The problem is it doesn't work that way for everyone and the side effects for some can be worse than the positive effects.
While it doesn't help much with social ignorance it does give you enough focus on practising those things. I'm pretty socially competent now that I've been training myself while on Ritalin. I'm still not completely socially competent but it's a work in progress. It's actually helped to make me still be social when I'm not taking it.
And yeah, the risks are worth it. Well risks are worth turning me into a great writer. I barely care about social skills. When they're there it's great, I'll go downstairs and see who wants a chat. When they don't I'll stay in my room and do other stuff.
Don't call ADHD medication speed though. Some people REALLY need it. I was the kid who needed it but never got it and I struggled so much throughout school. My grades were poor, I felt stupid. I felt stupid until I took medication and had this increase in focus and motivation and the memory increase, my God, what a miracle. So before you judge just remember sometimes the medication is necessary. Kids aren't put on it for naughty behaviour but because of the symptoms of ADHD that can at times make them have behavioural problems, but it's not always about that. Sometimes they need those extra chemicals to help them focus, be organised and use it with therapy to work on problem behaviour they barely even notice they have.
I think it makes me more social mainly because my inattentive symptoms make me cranky, tired, not bothered to do things and for some reason without medication I can be extremely argumentative. Oh right, the ODD.
You should at least try to get a diagnosis of ADHD. That way you can take it legally. You probably do have some form of ADHD if the medication works. If you stay an abuser, by ADHD law, I'm not supposed to like you. My poor American brethern have to pay buttloads of money and go to like 5 pharmacies before they find a supplier of Adderal and now the FDA is cracking down and making it harder for my friends to get their medication all because of those damn drug abusers.
Note: Drug abusers are people not diagnosed with ADHD or prescribed the medication.
They give little kids speed all the time for ADHD, they just call it adderall and ritalin.
I never said It was a bad thing......just that if I were to use a drug like that on a daily basis I personally would probably end up abusing it and having some pretty crazy experiences due to the sleep deprivation it would cause. If I actually have things i need to get done that is one thing, but if I plan on relaxing all day I don't want to be on stimulants.
Pah, I sleep fine as long as I don't drink tea at night.
Seriously people, get diagnosed with something before you think about taking this stuff.
Actually this is quite dangerous. One, people with autism may be sensitive to this type of medication. Two, you need to start out on a low dose and work your way up. Side effects are worse than cancer. Cancer might come up 20 years down the track. 6 months is long enough to give you side effects. Also, take into account the withdrawal symptoms every time it wears off.
ADHD medication is given is small amount and isn't as potent as most illegal drugs. That's why people that abuse it stupidly take 10 at once. I hope they have hallucinations of hell when that happens. The medication helps me function.

Also, Ritalin has a different mechanism of action. It also affects dopamine and norepinepheirne, but instead of releasing them, it inhibits their re-absorption. They're similar but not the same. Cocaine has a similar but much more powerful mech of action than Ritalin.
It sounds like speed+esctacy. Isn't the reason ecstasy is dangerous is because after the body becomes dependent on esctasy it starts to loose the natural ability to regulate saratonin (I know I'm spelling it wrong) so the person ends up becoming depressed when not on drugs?
Also, I find the thread title to be highly misleading, this doesn't make you temp. NT, it takes away social anxiety. Are you absolutely certain that you are actually getting better at socializing, or you just think you are because the anxiety is gone and you are more motivated, but everyone else still sees you for who you really are?

I've gotten a lot of compliments from people who say I'm a lot more fun/easier to talk to now. It's blowing people's minds due to the fact that I didn't tell them I'm on anything haha.
You see, my problem never was that I blurted out inappropriate things, it was that I couldn't think of anything to say at all.
One more thing I'd like to add is it's been proven to be far less neurotoxic than E, and more suited for daily use rather than for a mindblowing experience once a month.

This is actually not the reason why it's so hard to get meds. It's because of moral panics raised against the medication by branches of the Church of Scientology and others. There's a website called "ritalin death dot com" (spelled out to avoid linking) that exists to foment exactly this sort of panic.

ADHD medication is speed, thats just what it is...reminds me of people who claim marijuana isen't a drug. And I've only taken it a few times in my life its not something I would want to take every day but I would be lying if I said I do not like the effects of it. If I had a prescription I would be too tempted to take it all the time. I will admit the first time I took it I started with 60 mg and then 30mg the next two days and maybe 45 mg the fourth day but honestly I cannot really remember because that is how f***ed up I was. Then after that I took 30 mg two other times and that was about a year ago.
So yeah probably not the best thing I decided to do, but I did and based on that experiance I would not want a prescription of it even if I was diagnosed with ADHD or ADD. Nothing against anyone who has a prescription fo adderall that helps them, thats not really any of my buisiness anyways as it really has no effect on my life. I do however think its rather immature that you would hope people experiance horrible things if they take adderall a couple times as it really has nothing to do with you.
Also adderall causes cancer? I've never heard of that and will have to look into that....I don't understand why they imagine its safe to give to kids on a daily basis if its actually been proven to cause cancer. Also what are these side effects worse than cancer it causes. I am sure its out of my system entirely because the last time I took any adderall was like a year ago and that was just 30mg.

That's a new one. I'm in Australia. Where no such thing is happening.
Still, people shouldn't abuse it because I will hit them.

Good point and I am sure the war on drugs plays into it, as the federal government can't seem to get that prohibition does not work so trying to make it more difficult or prevent people with prescriptions from having access to their meds, in an attempt to reduce illegal use of it apparently makes sense to them.

Last April I said to my internist, maybe don't need it right away, but for down the road if things don't start improving, I'm starting to think maybe an antidepressant.
He was surprisingly open to it.
And I'm thinking the same might be true for anti-anxiety drugs. And actually, I'm thinking two out of three doctors, but let's say 50-50.
So yeah probably not the best thing I decided to do, but I did and based on that experiance I would not want a prescription of it even if I was diagnosed with ADHD or ADD. NO it's not. Speed is illegal. ADHD medication is an FDA approved medication made to treat symptoms of ADHD. It's your fault for taking so much. 30mg is the legal adult limit in my country and people start out as low as 5mg. You should of taken the prescribed dose.
Marijuana is illegal too. Ritalin has been a legal medication for around 50 years, possibly 30.
They give it to kids because kids whether you want to believe it or not have ADHD. This is the best medication they can get. It's not perfect but has made remarkable improvements in children's school work and controlling the behaviour symptoms. It is a potent medication with some alarming side effects much like any form of medication. People need to really study up on it before taking it and when deciding how to take it.
And if someone abuses the medication they deserve what they get. It's what I need and many like me to function.
It's not proven to cause cancer yet. The side effects can be pretty bad though, most common can be loss of appetite, facial tics, hair loss, anxiety, depression, hypertension, migraines and seizures. Increase in body odour is a pretty bad one too. Those people that take a lot of it at once will start having vivid hallucinations like the guy who took so much to help him study he saw worms eating his legs.

Take adderall when you don't have ADHD and you'll see why its speed...its not really a technical term lots of people consider adderall a type of speed obviously it is not the exact same chemical compound of the sort of speed you would find on the street. But whatever yes adderall and ritalin are pharmacuticals that can legally be prescribed I am well aware of that.
Of course its my fault for taking too much....I dont know quite what I was thinking at the time but I was convinced I wanted to get super screwed up via adderall and sleep deprivation I think I was throwing a long drawn out fit because i was in denial about having PTSD and did not want to think about so I was like 'to hell with it all, might as well get drunk, take some adderall and eat some mushrooms and top it off with four days of no sleep and more adderall.
I know marijuana is illegal, but not for good reason....its easy to find all the reasons why it was made illegal and most of them are complete BS. I am also familier with what ritalin is and its legal status.
As I said before I am sure adderall and ritalin do help some people and I have no problem with it being used as an ADHD medication, I just think caution should be used because giving a kid the wrong med espeically over a long period of time can really mess them up...when I was a kid teachers thought I should be on meds and the only reason I was not put on ritalin or adderall was because my parents refused to consider it I see that as a good thing because I diden't need it.
And though I was the one who chose to take the adderall I am not sure I deserved the negative experiance I had...I am not a terrible person who deserves to experiance hell. I am not trying to say its unjust I had that experiance or anything but I just don't know I've done anything to have 'deserved' it morally speaking.
Also add to that list of side effects, horrible dry mouth that makes every ciggerette taste like hell.

That's why I put that little warning at the bottom. To me, the side effects are worth it. I'd rather live until 40 like this than 80 how I did. But to others, they may not feel the same!
