I was 15 when I stopped. I used to play wiht my brother's toys until we moved to Montana and after that everything was different so I only played with my own toys which were the Barbie stuff. The rest of my stuff was packed away. Then when I was 15 I got tired of playing with dolls because I never wanted to play with them anymore even though I did one time when I was 16 when we moved into the house my family was building and I never touched them again until March of this year and boy was everything dusty inside the doll house. I cleaned the toys and the floors and organized the accessories and put them away in one of the storage spaces with the rest of my Barbie stuff. I did play with them again last week we my mom had over a 9 year old girl because her mother was woking and she needed someone to watch her so I came down so she can play with my dollhouse and I played with her. I do not like anyone touching my stuff even though I don't play with them because I have things in a certain place and all and I don't like anyone messing them up and losing things and my mother respects it so she invited me down to play dolls with her.

I play with Knex once ina while. I like building stuff out of them. I can remember the time I made some table and chairs out of them and I took pictures of them and I even made a push sled and and buggy and took pcitures of them too. They got downloaded on my Dad's old PC from 96 but I never printed them off so they're still on there I hope. I was making my own model book. In fact i am thinking about buying knex but I never get around to doing it. I even play with play doh too once in ahwile but I never buy it in stores. All I have are the used play doh stuff and the lilo and stitch happy meal toys play doh. I remember I had The Little Mermiad play doh mole set but I dunno what i did with it. Either it's packed away or I sold it at a garage sale when I was about 12. I remember selling few of my things like my Barbie's moter home. The other toys i have suck as the barbie stuff, Littlest Pet Shop, Polly Pockets, I could never get rid of. After moving to Montana, I never unpacked all of my stuff so I never played with my littlest pet shop stuff nor my polly pockets and the happy meal toys I kept packed away. i didn't unpack them until i was 15 or 16. Moving to Montana changed me. It even changed my mood too because i didn't wanna do the same stuff or I didn't enjoy doing it like riding my bike because I was used to riding on sidewalks and paved streets instead of gravel and I didn't do roller blading or going over to people's houses and playing with them since we lived in the country, not in the neighborhood. When we moved into our big house I still didn't wanna unpack all of my stuff and there were even stuff I had I forgotten about. I remember when I saw my old stuff I was bewildered where they came from and then i remember they were mine and I had packed them when I was 13 when we were moving and I never unpacked them because our house was too small so we didn't have room for all our stuff. I indeed packed lot of my stuff away from my room when i moved out of my parents house and they are still packed away. I don't have the room for them. Last thing I needed is a crowded home. My bedroom was a mess because I had so much stuff I had no room for it and didn't know where to put it and I certinally didn't want that in my home so I packed it.

I think the question is what qualifies as "toys". Like for example, like games for really little kids, would be considered toys. I mean, alot of people wouldn't consider video games toys anymore, seeing how many adults enjoy them so they'd be more of a hobby. Then there's also people like me who can't sleep without a stuffed animal, for security. I don't think that's as much of playing with them as toys, as much as it's less stressful if you have a nightmare to have something you can hug really tight to feel safe. Like a psychological thing.

I mean, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with adults liking toys. I'm just saying in my mind, toys are like something I played with when I was 3. What I'm interested in now, is stuff that's more mentally challenging, or needed for a psychological reason..like the stuffed animals. I hope that made sense.

I quit playing with toys in junior high. Eventually I became a science teacher so I could play with them again.

Um... I think I stopped totally when I was 18, so I don't even fit in the poll.

Now I just collect toys and display them.

As violet_yoshi suggested, toys are objects that give us pleasure. Cars, boats, planes, atv's, etc. Also, cellphones, computers, gaming consoles, and other electronic devices can be considered toys. I believe that almost everyone has at least one item that could be regarded as a toy. I still play video games on occasion and also read for enjoyment. I suppose a book can also be considered a toy. So to answer your question, I have not quit playing with toys and it is unlikely that I ever will.

13 but I started back at 36 playing with my 3 and 4 year old nephews. All they want to
do is toys, candy, cartoons. I guess an extenstion of cartoons is I must tell made up story after made up story to them. I stopped playing with Lego at 13 and played with
them today 23 years later just like I did then.

I stopped playing with toys ("toys"being defined as physical objects designed for children to play with, video games arn't toys) when I was around 10 with the exception of legos, which I played with often untill I was around 16.

Good point. There are definitely different definitions floating in people's minds. Lego seems somewhat exempt, and computer and video games.

Most are still toys in my mind, with overlap shading over to hobbies, perhaps.

MAKING stuffed toys might be different, but a "no electronics" cut-off doesn't work, as the earliest of toys now tend to have them.

And toy trains shading into the serious hobby of model railways?

I think I was probably 9 or 10 when I stopped playing with toys. I have a small teddy bear collection, and for nostalgia, a Magic 8 Ball and metal slinky. My NT brother still has the stuffed mallard duck that he played with as a kid. I think somewhere hidden in the garage is my old roller skates that I've long outgrown.

My thoughts exactly.

I mean, if toys give you enjoyment, why stop? Just because of what others think of you?

Since when should Aspies care about that? Never. I love toys.

My father is a neurotypical and sometimes plays with toddler toys, he's awesome! I am glad to have him as a dad!

Indeed. That would be most...illogical.
