^^ This.

But also, it's generally not acceptable to stare at people in real life. On TV or the movie screen you can stare to your heart's content and absorb all the beauty of the person on screen. In real life, if you do that people think you're a weirdo. Every once in a while I'll notice in a meeting when someone is presenting and it's okay to look at them for long stretches of time... Even the people I initially thought weren't attractive have something beautiful about them. It's astonishing! Lovely eyes or cute freckles or fantastic hair or an interesting bone structure. Everyone is beautiful in their own individual way.

So yeah, I think celebrities are attractive, but everyday people are too. These things are not mutually exclusive.

I remember telling my ex-boyfriend that I wasn't really attracted to most celebrities and he said it was because I wasn't at the level of self confidence as most people are. I tend to go for more alternative, different guys. I don't know maybe he's right, maybe if I was prettier and more self confident I would think otherwise, who knows. I just know that I hate cocky, arrogant men.

that doesn't sound like a very nice thing for him to have said. perhaps you have unusual tastes, or you care more about a person's interests and personality than their appearance. nothing wrong with that.

Yeah, he was very arrogant and manipulative around me. I do go for personality rather than looks.

They all look the same. It's very irritating to someone who's faceblind. Nothing against celebrities, but couldn't they pick who actually looked different from each other to act in the movies? I have to keep up with them by costume and hairstyle!

Yeah, it's pretty silly to accuse someone of low self-confidence because they don't find celebrities to be particularly good-looking. They are all very similar. Some people like distinctiveness.

They do all look pretty similar, with variations on a theme, and casting/marketing selections based on current trends.

I've never found myself attracted to someone I've not met.
They are all strangers, some with standout, appealing qualities...like kindness to animals, or an unusual lack of materialism, which is always admirable, and in their position particularly so.

Perhaps the OP is asking if we find the commonly accepted "celebrity body type" to be attractive?

To that I'd answer yes. But then, I find a rather lot of female body types attractive, so *shrug.*

I'll admit mine looks like a variation on Lou Reed, and he likes it. :P

People often focus on celebrities that don't seem that attractive to me (e.g. Natalie Portman or Sarah Palin)
but I'm not really that attracted even to Megan Fox or Angelina Jolie etc. I am attracted to women generally.

Similar, that is, I need to have a favourable impression of them based on several interesting conversations (which may be online) before even being able to start thinking about whether they might be nice to look at and get close to etc, too :)

I don't know if it's an aspie thing or not but I don't find what most people see in "hot" celebrities. I look through magazines and see how maybe other women find muscles, tight bodies, manicured chests and celebrity good looks, "attractive", but it's just not something I'm attracted to. I find more the dorky, stocky, glasses wearing, bald man FAR more attractive. Does anybody else not see the big fuss over what is considered to be "good looking" in society?

I know only a few celebrities, much less than an average person does in the first place. In most movies I don't care who the actors are, though I recognize some actors anyway.

Usually I find personality and knowledge more attractive than physical outlook, but I admit I like some characters in certain movies because I like their appearance or their stories in the movie or the place where the story happens or I can imagine myself in place of the protagonist and I find attractive the girl who's attracted to him...

I don't know if it's a curse or blessing that I don't like the typical celeb outlook of girls / women. I don't like heavy make-up in general, especially dislike nail art, they look disgusting to me, I can't help it. Too attractive clothing on women I find plain whorish.

On the other hand, among modest looking girls I find quite a few attractive. They don't have to be that pretty and stylish.

I tend to go for people that I'm similar to in many ways.

I do not feel physical attraction to others (personality is more important) and actually find "artificial" looks somewhat repulsive

I don't find most celebrities to be attractive. A lot of them look too skinny.
