Out of 20 target faces (ones you studied in the first part of this test), you correctly identified 1.
Out of 30 nontarget faces (ones that didn't study in the first part of this test), you correctly responded that you had not seen 21 of them.

Overall, you got 44% correctThe average person with normal face recognition scores about 85% on this test.

Hm... You ALL Did better than me.. here is the wierd of it.. I draw... but I can't keep pictures in my head, like if you went to recall how something looks, I can't do that.. I can tell you the color and basic demensions, but I almost never can draw it, I go blank. All I draw is a blank (hehe)

I've run into about a gazillion people that remember me from middle school but I almost never remember who they are. It's the same with people that live by me.. bugs the crap out of me.

I'm so afraid of having prosopagnosia now after having read about it in conjunction with having AS a few years ago, that I worry if I know someone famous is going to be on a TV show, for fear I won't recognize them

This past week Patty Hearst, who is an American heiress who was famously kidnapped by terrorist group in the 1970's and then joined her captors, was supposed to be on a show. Her face was all over TV, newspapers, everywhere in the mid-70's and I was afraid that I wouldn't know her and it'd mean I had prosopagnosia. Of course she would have changed a lot, but I felt I should still recognize her. I did, but I wonder if I hadn't seen her name at the beginning of the show, if I'd have known it was her.

Then last night Roger Daltrey of the Who was on CSI. Even though I listen to the Who's music sometimes, I'm not as familiar with how he looks, and I didn't see him at all. It turned out that he was wearing various disguises (facial prosthetics) during the course of the show anyway, but I still wonder if I'd have known for sure it was him. But I haven't looked at pictures of him very much for years. However, the person they had playing his character as a young person didn't look anything like him, and I could see that very clearly.

I still think in my case I should go with the fact that I never seem to have problems recognizing people in real life, and even though I don't watch much TV I don't have problems recognizing people I have seen before when they turn up in other shows or movies, unless they're wearing disguises. So probably I'm at least functional in this area and maybe shouldn't worry about it so much?

My total was 62%. In life I can't see faces. It's too intense. I see hair at times but even that is only if I think I will need to recognize that person in the future. But in conversations and things I see their hands, or glance at their hair when looking past them.

I didn't take the one with the famous people because I don't care who is who. I've never cared. I hate most movies and TV shows, except for Star Trek, M*A*S*H, and Jeopardy. The suspense is too much. I remember a friend commenting that I was the only one she knew who held her breath during Batman.

I think the effect is that I am less than 62% faceblind in effect. If everyday life were used I would score much less because I can't see faces.

Famous Faces...

Yeah...

*BURSTS OUT LAUGHING*

Results

Out of 30 faces, you correctly identified 5.
You were familiar with 18 of the people in this test.

If we exclude the ones you were unfamiliar with, you got 28% correct.

On our previous version of this test, the average person with normal face recognition was able to recognize about 85% of the faces they were familiar with. If you missed more than half of the faces you were familiar with, this may indicate face recognition difficulties.

On the famous faces I knew them all but didnt recognise tony blair or Piccard because they were bad pictures...IMO...I didnt know some names of stars but knew some movie they were in.The random faces I scored 74, much better then I thought I would.I think it is easier when there is a mole or wrinkle that I recognise and that is not something I would notice with most people I meet because I barely look at them...I couldnt usually tell you what a co-worker is wearing, jewlry ,glasses, eye color, etc.I usually notice if they are tall or short, thick or thin, skin color and hair color though not "style".
It's more like I take little peaks at them when I know they are busy and wont look up at me.The test did have some of the most generic faces I have ever seen....whats with all the white round faces?

I did much better on the test with people who had unique appearances and ethnicities. They had some character to their features which I find aesthetically pleasing....I got a 95% on recognising pictures I had seen and didnt make any incorrect in ones that had not been show in the 24 total pics....I did poorly on remembering if they were in the first or second group of 12.

I think this shows that my problem is placing a face I recognise to a place and name of person. As well as not spending much time looking at the people around me for more then a few seconds.

I like to watch the news a lot and I see G W Bush's and Tony Blair's face just about every day. I was most surprised when I found I could not recognise them.
However some of our Australian local politician's faces like John Howard and Kim Beazley should be much easier by virtue of being extremely ugly. But I may have troubles if I had to identify John Howard with his face alone with his chrome dome masked off and without his glasses.

But I am very good at remembering specific image qualities - like one of the girls had strange lip shape and all I remembered was that, and another face had a very slightly smile on one side (kinda like mona lisa) so I remembered.

Interesting though!

Umm... a middle aged fat dude? If he's famous, he has to be a politician because people who are fat aren't usually movie stars.

Take this from a certified face-blind person: Don't worry about it. There's little reason to be afraid--after all, if you do turn out to be face blind, you've been that way all your life and never been crippled by it, right? And, anyway, face-blindness can be worked around by memorizing things like clothes, hair, unusual features, etc. It's not the end of the world--only about as bad as being colorblind.

Is faceblindness a requirement for AS? Because I have most of the other classic AS traits yet I consider myself pretty good at recognizing faces. Or at least I think I do - I haven't taken the test yet.

I'm with you Paul. I frequently cue on hairstyles, glasses, facial hair etc. I wonder how well you all would score if the hair styles were mixed up, and some had glasses, where others did not. This would totally throw me off completely!

I scored 67% on the Famous Faces Test. Damn, I feel like such an idiot for not recognizing Keanu Reeves' face even though I've seen multiple movies that's he in. On the Old-New Faces Test, I got 80% (18 out of 20 target faces and 22 out of 30 non-target faces).
