The stuffed dolphin's name is Dory, the Car's name is Susie, and the Calico Critters kitten's name is Miss Important. She is called that because my therapist gave her to me today to serve as a reminder that regardless of what I look like, how much I weigh, and whatever mistakes I make, I am still an important person. I have trouble believing that sometimes.
And so I was wondering - does anyone else have a favorite object (like a plushie, something to keep one's hands busy, or even a smartphone or Ipod) that they like to carry around with them in their hands, pockets, or in a bag? My three little guys mostly stay in my bag; I don't really take 'em out...I just like knowing they're there.
There is a lot of things such as a cell phone, pencils and paper my personal hygiene stuff and even my clothing that I take with me all of the time that are necessities and these items don't comfort me either. They just make things easier for me and have no special interest for me. However, I take my special Diecast Backhoe loader toy with me for comfort and security. So kudos for you for knowing the difference between things of necessity and things that comfort and gives security. However, unlike you I do take my toy out and sleep with it as well as stim with it. What is the use of taken it if it is just going to be left all alone in a bag for the most part.
BTW, your toys would make great bed mates giving you even more security when in a hotel or at a friends since you have given them names and maybe a personality like I have my diecast backhoe loader toys. I have a name and have given them a gender and a personality to everyone of them. Your toys are speaking to you for more closeness. But, I guess I'm more down on the Autism Spectrum than most here who don't really understand about this kind of stuff. Sorry.
Hi, DirtDigger! Glad to see you back - I love hearing about your diecast backhoe toys. Sorry I'm just now replying to your post. There's no need to apologize...I think you're right that my toys desire more "closeness" with me...I often wish that I could sleep with Miss Important (my Calico Critter cat) and Susie (my little blue diecast Car), but I worry about them falling out of bed or my rolling over on them and crushing them. So when I go to bed, or am at a hotel or sleeping someplace with a nightstand next to the bed, I usually line up Susie, Miss I, Penny, Ralph and Calhoun on the nightstand, and sleep with Dory and Truffles (the two plushies) in bed. I always make sure the plastic ones are all positioned on the nightstand or desk in a way that allows them to watch over me as I sleep.
Speaking of my plushie friends that travel with me....
...I guess at this point some of you might be thinking, "How does she FIT them all in her bag??" xD Well, my shoulder bag's pretty roomy, and has lots of "compartments"...I like that in a shoulder bag.
Anyway, the light blue dog's name is Rebound, and the little guy in the shirt with the big hands is Hugmy.
I actually just got Hugmy tonight....you see, my parents and I went to the mall tonight, and after we ate dinner, we kind of went our separate ways to go to the stores we liked, and I've been feeling kind of depressed bcuz I'm turning 21 tomorrow and I'm still at the same point psychologically/emotionally that I was exactly a year ago, and for other reasons I won't go into here. Anyway, I went into this cute little toy shop, went to the back where the stuffed animals were, and I just found this cute little guy with a sweet smile and outstretched arms thrown in with some Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. He just cheered me up instantly, and he was really inexpensive, so I bought him, and he's part of my little "family" of travelling toys now. I call him "Hugmy" bcuz he's part of a line of plushies called "Hugmeez," and his arms are out like he wants to hug everyone in sight.
