Is this example over-reading the non-verbal?

Great point for a new thread...

Which part? The idea of beating NTs at their own game?

The part about it taking us, older aspies, so long to discover the non-verbal. I posted a thread about it today.

Reading inside the lines is something that I was never really interested in.

Being a guy I guess you can get away wth this more.

I guess it's an utter lack of social interest( ToM).

I will say something gelled with this "non-verbal," but it didn't get through on any one "revelation." Maybe enough strikeouts and the voids eventually fill in.

I wonder if culture was more lenient; would spectrum folks really give a hoot about these social imaginations - as in desperately trying to read in all this?

In otherwords is your heart ( "soul" ) into "it," or is this concern strictly survival, and guilt based; perhaps a feeling in a breach of morals/virtue? I've noticed Typical folks feel this "need" emotionally to fulfill a 'morality' but it moves them from the heart - it's a real interest to do so.

Mdyar, you put it exactly as it is - desperate trying to read for survival. If it were ANYTHING but survival, I would've dropped it long ago.

And if I learned something from this instance, it's that it's useless to try and read. At least for me. For one, I don't even know when reading is at all possible, or how much reading is possible, given the amount of info received. The outcome of this example was very different from anything I had read into it.
