I have AS and I'm indifferent about the Harry Potter movies. I neither like them nor dislike them.

I LOVED the first two movies. Somehow they just nailed how I pictured the books in my head. I found all the other movies to be disappointing.

I wish the original Dumbledore hadn't died... He was so perfect for the role. I would have loved to see how he handled some of the situations in the later books/movies.

Me too........the books are amazing....one of my favorite series of all time............I've read the entire series three times and The Prisoner of Azkaban 5 times. The movies were disappointing to me because they failed to capture the complexity of the books.

This. I've read all the books multiple times (some more than others). The movies I usually watched just once, some maybe twice. I don't think the movies are "bad", I still like them, but yes, they are a bit disappointing to someone who's read the books.

That's the first I hear of a real-world Quidditch team. (I guess I'm not that big a fan then!) How do they play without flying broomsticks?

Luna Lovegood.

She seems distant but is acutely aware of things, not noticed by the others.

Professor Snape was bullied, yet intellectual, embittered, yet tried to be helpful.

As for which story is better, I like mythology, and especially that of Europe. I thought Lord of the Rings also had this feel.

But, in Lord of the Rings, power corrupts irredeemably. In the Harry Potter series, it is a source of grace, in that authority figures used their personal discretion to be permissive toward the protagonist.

Speaking of autistic mannerisms, btw, his unique talents were overridden by a family who mistreated him. He was not strictly in line with the educational establishment, but learned directly and effectively, as a result of his practicality.

I liked some films (specifically, the first two and the last three; the third and fourth movies were terrible and the fifth was simply forgettable), but I really liked the books. However, since you are asking about the movies, My answer is no, I do not love them.

No, I've NEVER been into Harry Potter. From the moment I first heard about it, I just KNEW it was something I wasn't going to be interested in whatsoever, and then a couple years ago an ex of mine tried to make me watch a movie with her. I tried, but it just put me the hell to sleep. I wasn't even tired before watching it at all, but it like MADE me tired. I tried watching one or two other films because I was pretty much forced to go see one of them in the theater, and my current girlfriend likes Harry Potter as well.

I think the one I saw in the theater was order of the phoenix. I don't remember much, but I did quite enjoy the part when that crazy b***h who showed up at the school in the beginning told Harry to tell the... centaurs, were they? That she was a good person or something like that, and he just responds with "I must not tell lies," or whatever it was she kept having him write down. Other than that, though, I just don't care for anything Harry Potter.

Hell YEAH, Harry as a character pisses me off, and Snape is totally right about him and his dad. I totally see his point. I don´t say I don´t like Harry and The Marauders, I DO, I am just saying that it was Snape who really was the main hero of the stories. He is the most visible and recognizible character, and his unconditional love for Lily Evans-Potter breaks my heart.
