Interesting question and poll results - almost 50-50%. Up until I was about 40 years old, I loved spicy hot food. I used to slice habanero peppers and salt them and eat them straight. Had to be really careful not to touch my eyes even after scrubbing my hands. But for the last 10 years I've grown very sensitive to anything the least spicy. "Mild" salsa wrecks me. I'm OK with turmeric, but cayenne, black pepper, chipotle peppers are way over the top for me now. I truly don't know what changed.

Spicy food is good!

Oddly I seem less tolerant of it as an adult than I did when I was younger. This makes me kinda sad.

Yep, even just a bit of ground peppercorn sometimes hurts my mouth, and even things like salsa that are labeled "mild" are often too spicy for me.

Yes, but I enjoy it. Btw, water tends to make things worse.

Hell no, I love spicy food. You should see how much wasabi I use with sushi or sashimi.

Correct. Milk or carbs are a better choice for putting out the fire.

I love spicy food, but some things that never used to give me heartburn do now.

I like spicy foods, like buffalo chicken, etc. but I need water or some sort of drink nearby when having it, and go through several waters. Though if I have no drink near me, that's when I get to the point of hypersensitivity.

Where I live, green chile is very popular. It took a long time but I've developed a taste for it.

Apart from making me sweat, I'm not overly sensitive to it. I never cared for it when I was younger, but now I like some moderately spicy food.

I can handle some spice, but not a huge amount. You get used to spice when you eat as much Chinese food as I do.
