I concur. I think there is emotional intelligence. YET, you have certain social systems in place THAT can greatly decrease the role that lack of emotional intelligence plays in the success of an individual.

One such vital social system is:

Well, call it what you like: emotional intelligence, social skills, ToM, mirroring, but there is definitely an ability involved in navigating social situations that IQ doesn't help with.
People have no difficulty believing that a high IQ won't make a person good at sports or art, so why is this so controversial?
Of course, the people who do believe it usually use it as a reason to discriminate against those who lack this ability even more. Even though they call it an "intelligence", they still seem to treat it as a moral failing.

I believe in emotional intelligence, but what about bipolar and some of the other emotional issues/disorders(not trying to offend anyone),isnt that going a bit to far with emotions :?:
Also is it possible that someone could be dxed as an aspie or autie(asfar as being social goes) if they didnt have the chance to make friends/be social/develop that emotional reciprocity? So what happens if they get dxed with autism or aspergers but then find out/move to a neighborhood(or whatever) and have no problems making/keeping friends, could they lose their dx, or would they be just extremely high functioning?
