When watching videos or seeing pictures of people with Asperger's or HFA, I thought I noticed a pattern in what we all look like. I see a lot of dark hair, dark eyes, fair skin and a similarity around the eyes and eyebrows. In short, it seems that a lot of us could pass for siblings or at least 1st cousins. Is it just me, or a coincidence, or does anyone else see this?
dark hair? nope, I'm naturally blonde.
dark eyes? mine are a hazely grayish bluish.
fair skin? I'll take that one. Usually I'm either the lightest or second lightest shade in makeup. And it could be that none of us care about tanning or that fake tanner crap.

"People with autism have some facial similarities sometimes, especially in children. For example, high forehead, Low facial muscle tone, pale skin, ear slapping and wide eyes. Of course you can not diagnose autism or Asperger's just because of these facial traits, but, if 100 photos of faces are shown and ten of them were autistic, you could always pick up several."

According to the study, children with autism also had a shorter middle region of the face - including the nose and cheeks - as well as a wider mouth and philtrum, the divot above the lip and below the nose. "
I also found it odd when I came across that AS partners site to hear partners stating their aspie partner had a certain "look", in particular, a "flat look like Bill Gates" or something along those lines. I guess that might be the low muscle tone thing?
I have also heard people say that Aspies have bags/lines under their eyes.
I am not sure about any of that stuff though - I havent really met that many aspies in real life.
My psych told me I have a very blank face with limited movement. I have a large forehead. People tend to like my eyes - I think they are "thinking" eyes. And most people think I look sad/bored when I am not at that time.
I do have dark hair, and dark blue eyes, and my face can get quite pale although I have olive skin and my body can get quite tanned.
I don't know what they mean by high forehead except I do have a long forehead. I just have a long face in general though. And a deep face from front to back (even though I do have very pronounced cheeks). I do not, however, have wide eyes. My eyes are teeny tiny small, close-set, with draping hooded eyelids. I do have a distinct nose though. I think that comes from a funky mix of my parents noses though. My dad has a ski-slope for a nose, and my mom is part cherokee, so she has a strong bridge on her nose. So I have a wonky combination of both noses. None of my 3 sisters got stuck with this nose (I'm the only aspie among them). lol I was always the weirdest facially. And the funniest thing is, my face looks so different from a variety of angles too.

I think that's caused by lack of sleep.
Yup! I've had messed sleep for as long as I can remember too. I think many of us have messed sleep. Haven't met an aspie yet that doesn't struggle with sleep in some way shape or form.
