Yup I've gotten all of those too.

I think you should be absolutely flattered if someone mistakes you for being gay. Atleast you seem interesting to someone...

I'd describe myself as asexual. I can be very aesthetically and emotionally attracted to men, but the idea of having sex... it's like, "Why would I want/need to do that?" :? Sexual feeling just isn't something that's a part of my life.

I call myself 'heterosocial'. :)

Hovis,

I bet you look straight also. Frankly, I can understand why you would want to consider yourself asexual, etc... But, for the most part, the straight/gay concerns are against males. Luckily, you probably wouldn't have to contend with them even if someone viewed you as a lesbian.

Kinda glad lots of you other lads get this too. :P

Maybe it's the repression thing?

Personally i think i've suffered abit of a regression lately due to faking NT'ness and repressing my Aspieness for so long, maybe gay guys pick on this repression and think you're repressing homosexuality rather than autism.

It's happened too me, i've had an entire group of NT's do the whole NT game (harassing, lying, dropping hints, manipulating etc. etc.) too "turn me" gay because one of the leaders of the group was gay and he thought i should be too :/.

ps:- having a group of people show up at your house at 5am on a saturday morning too have an "intervention" explaining that your obviously gay but just don't know it is NOT a good way too wake up.

Troy, if that IS your real name 8-),

I'm glad someone else mentioned about how they suffered to hide their aspieness. I have as well. I didn't even know it was because I was an aspie! If I could go back in time, and change any one event that did that I would quickly do so.

I don't think either makes me look homosexual though. Besides, there are somethings I WON'T do, like feign an interest in sports. If I was homosexual, I probably WOULD appear to have such an interest to try to hide that.

I think homosexuals feel they HAVE to do approach straight people just because they can't be sure. A LOT of homosexuals try to act straight. Many even marry and have kids. Go figure.

Stevek : actually it's duggy :P

I'm also unfortuantely thin, which seems to be a bit of a gay stereotype as well. Coupled with being semi-social (i like being social in small doses and situations) but not good with girls and not being very erm whats the word everyone uses ... manly ... sigh. I get mistaken for gay a fair bit.

I've noticed that they've been throwing that "gay" tag around too much lately. They will call anyone who looks different "gay". They will call anyone who acts different "gay". If a man is not interested in sports, he's "gay". If a man is interested in the performing arts, then he's "gay". If you don't have a person of the opposite sex hanging on your arm 24/7, you're "gay".

I just think that the term is thrown around too much and used to loosely.

Apparently NT's see me as gay, literally. Last night I was at a dance department party at an "Honor" (i.e. Frat) House. So I am standing against the wall with a beer. Some guy holding a glow-in-the-dark dildo in one hand yells "Dance!" at me and starts grinding me. He then tells me I should drink more. 8O I gently but firmly pushed him away and told him I was fine. It was just slightly awkward... I have no problem with GLBT people - I'm a theater major so I know and work with a lot of them - but I thought that was way out of line.
