The Hippie years into 1973.
The teacher dressed the flower power part. Tie dye clothes and head band. Any way, I found "trouble" on my desk. It was a Styrofoam ball with tooth picks radiating outward - like a porcupine. If you found this on your desk you've offended someone. I found it more than enough times on my desk. The funny thing was 'the trespass' was brought to my attention; but I didnt get why I was errant. 
This methodology was the popular Dr Spock discipline of no spanking or her personal counter culture ideal.
