I'm interested in the whole debate type video. You know, the whole stopping people from spreading their BS to the masses. I've yet to get around it because I have no idea where to start, and I've always had a phobia of being on a webcam.

One thing I fail to understand is why so any people make ASD videos about themselves. The act of talking about your obsessions and what not seems so self-indulgent. I don't know, its nothing against the people who do, I'm just saying.

If anyone has tips on getting started I'm all ears. Getting over my fear of seeing myself on a webcam would be great.

I;ve thought about it but never found the time. I'd want it to be planned and pretty well organized and done.

Yeah that's what I do. My autism videos are scripted and impersonal. Each video took me pretty much the whole day to make. I don't have that kind of time anymore, so I haven't made any. But I would love to make more, as I definitely have lots more to say. The goal of autism videos is to promote awareness (and acceptance). Youtube is good for putting important messages forward.

Want to promote my good friend's channel on here as she really enjoys making youtube videos and loves her fans.
She has AS and is a girly girl who loves makeup and experimenting different looks: but she also has made a number of great, informative videos on AS as well.
I'm featured in two of these videos...am unsure as to whether I'm going to post videos of my own yet, although I have many good ideas for some.

Check out her channel here: www.youtube.com/VHammondOfficial

My diagnoses - social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I’m no longer involved with the ASD world.

Can anyone recommend a good youtube channel where people are talking about aspergers?
I like watching vlogs because they seem more social able then typing to people you don't actually get to physically see.

No. I... I have seen myself on video only once or twice. I find it, um, uncomfortable, more than uncomfortable, even. It's one thing to believe that I look and act a particular way from my own perspective. It is quite another to see myself and know that how I think I act, in terms of body language/speaking patterns, is not an accurate assessment of the reality.

It is a very difficult thing for me. Like hearing your voice recorded but much much worse.

Yep. I hate watching/listening to myself. The person doesn't feel like me; they feel like someone I know of but don't particularly like. I don't mean the 'me' on camera reminds me of someone else I know, I mean the 'me' on camera looks like they are a different character that I know is supposed to be me but isn't how I think of myself. A person I've seen before and who bothers me. I'd really rather not watch. I get that looking into a mirror, too. My visceral reaction is to go, "Ugh, I hate that guy." Which sounds really self-loathing, but I actually really like myself, the 'me' in my head. That other guy... he looks and sounds nothing like me. He's weird and he moves funny, and I don't like him.

^ I can really relate to what you're saying here, jimmyboy.

I've never made any kind of Youtube video. I've just commented on a few and clicked like/dislike on some.

Well I do have a youtube account, but don't really make any videos.....I guess if I caught something funny on camera I'd upload it. But yeah never really thought of anything to make a video on, not to mention I am not always the most clear speaker and can mis-pronounce words especially if I feel on the spot which I would feel if I was making a video of me. But if it was like me and people I hang out with just having fun and there was something worth putting on youtube then I'd put it up.

I watch plenty of videos though....mostly music, sometimes I watch documentary type videos, have seen a few with people with autism talking about their autism and of course funny cat videos.

I do cat videos and gaming videos, but not self-documentaries.

Sans cat videos this is pretty much my youtube habits. I also watch videos where people record driving on the highway in scenic areas or through interesting cities . There are great video editors in doing this with interesting music choices. I find these videos extremely calming.

I only have videos of gameplays I made of different Sims games, and one video of my video game-inspired art.
I don't really have the equipment or the know-how to make live-action videos, and even if I did I know I'm troll food and not just because I'm an Aspie, which I'm very open about in my comments and replies. I'm also the three big "F"s -Fat, Female and Forty(one). People are always extremely cruel when they see an overweight or supposedly unattractive female on YT being the dirty cowards they are hiding behind their screen.

The other day someone asked what was wrong with eating gluten-free products and a lovely individual replied that they need to die because people with allergies and food intolerance are weak (expletives) and it's unnatural for the weak to survive.

Someone else said it's Un-American. I see, so Americans really are racist, sexist, bigoted intolerant jerks who hate political correctness only because they love being the extreme opposite of it. :x But I digress...

I did make a few live videos for YT on my tablet but I don't appear or talk in any of them I just wanted to show off my Halloween and Christmas decorations.
