Alcohol used to give me a nice warm euphoria, it has suddenly stopped working, I get a slight tipsy feeling then I go down like a ballon and feel very maudlin. I had many beers yesterday to get through a family christmas I just felt worse!

Alcohol doesn't make me depressed, but it definately increases the chances of doing stupid things that will cause depression later... e.g. just recently had a second sprain on my right ankle that may now never heal properly, and that's depressing. If I had had a little less to drink, I doubt very much that I would have tried to jump over that taxi...

I've never drunk alcohol, growing up as a Catholic meant taking a "pledge" at confirmation and at 18 I renewed it as an adult and have never broken it since. In any case, my medication means that I can't take alcoholic drinks, but people I be around with, if not in the first instance, respect me for it. If nothing else, on nights out they know that they're with someone who is sober and can keep an eye out for them. :)

Despite living in a part of the world where there is a large alcohol drinks culture, I grew up in a house where there was next to none so I didn't really have any temptation or parental pressure with it.
