Or not. Social inclination and social ability are 2 different things.
Both of my confirmed spectrumite students have been extroverts.

I think that an extrovert Aspie is similar to a common NT extrovert - just with Aspie traits. Somebody who touches people, speaks loud, loves to laugh, is open-minded, even goes to parties, but does not know how to behave properly in the given situation - due to his/her AS. But I am no expert, haha :-)

If anything, I suspect that an extrovert Aspie will be more different from an extrovert NT than an introvert Aspie is from an introvert NT.

I was an extrovert as a child but just socially blind as any other HFA kid. After years of negative social interactions and people reacting negatively to me, I've learned to keep my mouth shut.

Extroversion does not mean being a sociable party animal, it means you prefer dealing with objective "outer world" facts and things rather than living inside your head. Darwin was not an Aspie, but he is a good example of a quiet, unsociable extrovert, He was an ESTJ according to Carl Jung. Einstein was an Aspie and almost certainly was an extrovert.

I have a chart here that says he was an INTP. Einstein, that is.

What's "outer world' facts? Is that like nature? My head is a pretty neat place.

what i was thinking is that repeated social failures and the resulting humiliation and overstimulation from the very act of socializing would combine to cause an aspie to retreat within herself. that's what happened to me, and that's why i see things like that. prolonged social inability decreases social inclination.

I'm an extrovert, and I attribute this as one of the main reasons that I, while still far from normal, can function somewhat normally these days and blend into the neurotypical crowd. I mean, all the social skills therapy in the world isn't gonna help much if the desire to have friends, and to be friends with people, and to meet new people, isn't there.

It just so happens that it was there with me. Given, I do come across as annoying sometimes, and many people see me as eccentric. I personally don't give a f**k. They don't have to like me, but I'm at least giving them a chance. Don't have many friends, but my inner circle and I are the tightest homies this side o'town, the kind who'd tackle you during a drive-by. I don't need any more than that.

Like at times, I can use my "idiot extroversion" to my advantage. For example, I was at an estate sale. I had no money. So I just asked the people if I could have the items I wanted for free. I figured worst that happens is they say no, best that happens is I get the items. I got the items. Maybe they thought I was weird, but hey, I got a bicycle and a record player. At Burger King, instead of ordering a new Frostee for my sister, I was just like "Hey can you refill this" and then got a free Frostee. I can be very ballsy in certain instances where I see the consequences as little and the reward high.

Same here. I lived in my car and begged for change for years. I'd get enough money for the day and then take it easy. People around would ask me to go get them money so they could buy stuff. I just liked being helpful, feeling useful, so I'd do it. Just walk up to people and ask for money. Easily made 50 to 100 dollars a day at it. Now I understand why they wouldn't do it themselves. Social status, pride, etc. I'd rather have the free thing than give a darn what people thought!

In my case, it mostly depends on my mood, but in the days in which I am more extroverted it's like this:
-People I have a good relationship with think I'm more funny, intelligent, and that is pleasant talking to me;
-People I have a bad relationship/no relationship with, think that I'm a creepy, egocentric psychopath/stalker that talks too much. Or just that I am totally stupid.
