Well, yes.
Good to know I am not alone in that, I guess?

Oh yes, I have been told by NT's that I over-analyze things. So I got myself into a job where analysis is valued and rewarded.

As has been said, some (most?) people work from the general to the specific; I work from the specific to the general. Anyone who criticizes me for that difference is simply speaking from ignorance. They may benefit from a refresher in Psych 101, or maybe a layman's guide to Myers-Briggs.

When I find myself spending what I recognize to be too much time on something (as measured by diminishing returns), I try to either remember KISS (keep it simple, silly), or just put it down and walk away for some time (hours, days or weeks). When I return I often find I have gained some mental traction on the project and experience less mental wheel spinning.

I take care of myself by minimizing contact with people who are critical and judgmental. A friend giving me a fond reminder to K.I.S.S is one thing; emotionally abusive criticism is another, and is not tolerated.

I am accused of over complicating and over analyzing things ALL THE TIME!! !! I don't even realize it because to me it's all very simple.

Yep.

A shockingly simple and direct answer given the topic of this thread. :P

I think that NTs and those of us on the spectrum frequently have differing definitions or concepts for simplicity.

To me, simplifying can mean taking a streamlined course of action that completely drops social considerations - for example, choosing NOT to dash about like a wild animal buying Xmas presents for 10 people, but instead choosing to clean the apartment or to put a photo collection in order. Some people would find that choice inconceivable, but in my mind, I have just simplified my life.

What they see is that I have just complicated life, as if I was some kind of social wrecking ball..... :bounce:

That's it. Exactly

I can take a complex Bible passage and preach on it for 4 minutes and make it simple and understandable. I enjoy doing that. I hardly have to prepare to do it.

But just today I had to go to the grocery store. It was a major undertaking for me because what is simple for most I find complex and disturbing.

I'm actually being literal and breaking it down. I use these examples, when people ask me how I figured it out.
