I've been analyzing music since I was ten, to pick existing songs apart to their respective notes/chords so I could recreate them on my computer. Bassline, melody, chords, sub-melodies, accompaniments, rhythm instruments... then later, this would come in very handy as a tuba player in many concert bands, as I knew and could hear everyone else's part, making it all the easier to know when/where MY part fit in.
In my mid-to-late teens I would take that and actually start composing music of my own instead of merely arranging other works. I would have a few years of fame from this in the computer Amiga MOD-style "tracker/demoscene" before life hit a few snags and I quickly faded away into obscurity.
I was surprised to know I actually still have a few fans out there.
I get a very deep emotional attachment to certain songs I know intimately and love dearly. I can't quite explain it...
...I suspect the average person listens to the lyrics of a song and little else. These people were often bored to tears by my orchestral music... ![Sad :(](./images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)
