Doesn't do anything special for me.
I do find having a fan in the room on, like others have mentioned, is quite calming.

I dont know why but the engine idleing of the Enterprise is making me calm and relaxed like the same effect of crashing waves at a beach!

I love the hum of machines in general especially bassy, well kept diesels with a long cycle - in my head i like to tune in to the ticking and figure out the source of each little noise that I can hear. i guess our sensory issues have a couple perks? I know it's handy for my work because I'm the only one in class who can discern how hardened metal is becoming by its sound (with any modulation between total soft/hard).

I find the din of machines to be rather comforting (I also like watching them) as well.

I'm trying to find more low, bass, monotonous ambient tracks like the one I posted in the first post but I haven't yet. That track seems to be my magic track, so I want to see if there are others. Regular white noise is too high pitched and makes me want to rip my hair out. Even brown noise has that grating treble hiss over the low pitch.

I may have to experiment with making my own.

None of the sounds posted make me more relaxed or more tense.

Hmm, I like this :) It reminds me of a similar dull roar I would achieve by sitting in the bottom of the shower and putting my head on just the right angle so water would block my ears.

I'd seen this loop before, and several people on my twitter feed loved it at the time. For me, it just makes my head rumble.

However, I do love various kinds of white noise to help me feel calm and to help filter out the many random sounds in my loud house full of people and animals. It has to be just the right kind of white noise for the mood I'm in. Sometimes quiet ambient music works - like "space music", ambient, etc. (The Hearts of Space playlist on Spotify.)

But better than that, I have an app on my iPad that lets you mix various kinds of nature-based white noise, like creeks, bird calls, waterfalls, rain, snow, heartbeats, etc. It's called Go Mix It. They have a website, too. http://gomix.it/

Somedays it's a lifesaver. Especially when I need to sleep. I use earbuds if the house noises are too loud.

It kind of hurts my head, actually.

I'd be fine with it in the background broken up by other noises, but by itself it's really annoying.

I only listened to a bit of it, because I wanted just one smooth single looped noise like the other one. (What can I say, I crave sameness and repetition.) That one jumps around to different notes.

DerStadtschutz, I really like that one. I'm listening to it now.

It's odd, but I prefer the variant tones. Again, creeks, waterfalls, ambient music. And so many other people need the steady sounds. This is worthy of study, I think.

At first listening to it was ok, but then it was like a pressure building in my head, it was quite painful and I started feeling like a panic attack coming on. It could just be how my speakers are that are distorting the sound.

When you listened to it, did it make you feel really relaxed, or maybe even sleepy? Or in a sort of meditative, altered state?

Kamiyu, which one are you talking about, the OP, or the one I just posted?

It calms me down. So, relaxed. Like, I was feeling pretty anxious just now, and I put it on, and now I'm almost relaxed. The anxiety is pretty low-level if at all.

I was already feeling sleepy. :)

High-BPM music will put me into a focused, altered meditative state. Like Trance or EBM. It helps me concentrate.
