What exactly did you say? Just curious. It might be interesting to see how many here understand it without looking anything up. ALSO, how did your family react?
Judging by the averages and people that stated their IQs here, AS people have COMPOSITE IQs that are generally 20-70(130-160) points higher. Mine's in that range also. In most cases, Aspies have higher VERBAL IQs, so it might be 30-80(140-170) points higher or more.
I'm assuming average is about 90-110.
My strengths, at the time I was last tested in school, were more eclectic, so I don't know how high my verbal was. I'm almost never stumped, however, when some wise guy tries to stump me, and STILL sometimes have to dumb down things I dumbed down because people just don't understand. 8-( I guess I can't be TOO bad.
Also, it was VERY obvious when I was younger.
BTW To be fair, the AS diagnosis DOES place weight on a good vocabulary and isacc asimov in "Match wits with mensa" DOES say that is a good indicator of intelligence.
