I'll post but not vote. For me it isn't a morning vs night thing. I feel at my best early on after I get up and worse later on because I get tired.

Right now I get up really early and am up during the day but I've had times where I slept all day and was up all night.

Society's definition on when you are supposed to sleep mean nothing to me. I sleep when I'm tired.

I feel awful in the morning, my ability to cope is severely reduced in the hour or so after I wake up. This has always been the case but is worse recently because over the past few years I developed a chronic pain condition which has recently been diagnosed as fibromyalgia so as well as my normal difficulty during that part of the day I tend to wake up in agonising pain which doesn't go away until the painkillers I take (tramadol) kick in. Definitely a night time person here.

usually i feel worse in the morning. at night i am happy because usually my husband is there, that is, if none of us are put on a later shift, but usually we only do day shifts starting from early morning.

at night my husband usually makes a lot of time for me, and we eat tea then i get in my dressing-gown and we sit together and cuddle with the telly on which is relaxing. and i like going to bed too because we both enjoy sex. might sound weird here but is true.

I've always been a night person. I'll fall asleep around 3am to 6am and wake up around noon to 3pm. I feel much more clear headed, productive, calm, and at ease during the late night and early morning hours compared to the day time. There's something about the tranquility of late night hours that I've always preferred. Day time seems so stimulating, but I do love sunshine, nothing like warm spring sun on the skin.

During the spring and summer months I find myself falling asleep a little earlier, almost sliding into a "normal" sleep pattern. During the winter, though, with the short amount of daylight, my sleep pattern shifts back later a few hours.

I usually feel better around nighttime. On weekends and other days that I don't work, I find myself sleeping in until 10 in the morning, because I usually feel tired when I wake up earlier.

I have a Batman like life.

I actually prefer to get out and such at night, when the streets are almost empty, and its dark, so less imput to overload my brain.

Go to sleep around now its like 04:00 in the morning almost. and ill sleep to around, a bit after noon .

The world is just a more quiet place at night.

Do you think this poll significantly indicates (i.e. not just due to normal variation) that asperger people generally feel better in the evening that in the morning?

Yes, 70% is a big chunk.

I feel better at night too. My work starts at 9 AM which is too early for my liking. I tend to get up around 10 - 11 AM on non-working days. I get very bad headaches and feel ill if I get up earlier than 7:30 AM.

I have a hard time with the day . No matter what time I am forced to get up I still can't sleep till 5-7 . When at school I used to run on 2 hours sleep a night and often went without for a few night . By the weekend I was unable to move . I was considered lazy (and still am) by everyone because of my inability to get up on a morning
and was always late .

My clock seems to be back to front . My natural inclination is to sleep around 6-7 am and wake between noon and 3 . I sleep about the same amount as most but am considered lazy as I am outside society norms ,just the same as everything else about me .

I just love the night , no sun to burn out my eyes and no people to bother me , It's just lovely . As a kid I used to sneak out in the early hours and run about like a mad man feeling free as bird ( one not in a cage of course )

I have to be at the hospital at 9 this morning , I know that the only way I can make it is to stay up all night tonight , it has just gone 2 so I have 5 hours to kill before I have to make the effort to be presentable ( another thing I hate , the feel of water on my skin and discomfort of fresh clothes and everything else involved makes me want to scream)

So that's how this lazy tramp feels

Better at night, I can hardly wake up in the morning, mid-day-afternoon is hit or miss although those times and morning thats when my sensory issues appear to bother me most, I often feel I have to sleep around supper time(maybe related an sensory overload issue) and by 7pm or so I begin to feel my best and even better if I have the fore mentioned nap. I stay up late sometimes becouse I can do so much and feel so good, its natural.

Night is a wonderful time to be an aspie! Everyone else is asleep so there aren't any annoying noises (no sensory overload) and I can engage in my obsessive interest for hours without being disturbed/interrupted. I'm preparing to do so now. :)

Oh, night, how I love thee.

I actually like mornings too, but that's mainly on the rare days I feel like waking up at that time. Usually I hate waking up early (I love my sleep) and days, I'm not really fond of them. Nights, though, are the best. Night is not harsh, it is filled with comforting darkness, and there are few humans up and about. Night is also a concealer, able to hide you from strangers or weirdos (especially when you wear dark blue) and because they can't judge you as well during the night, most often tend to leave you alone.

Night doesn't do a number on my eyes and it is quieter, so night is my friend. :D

I've always loved being up at night. According to my mother, I annoyed her and my father by refusing to go to bed or staying up and reading/playing when I did go to bed. I used to hide a flashlight in my room so I could read once everyone had gone to sleep.

Still love being up at night. I have worked 3rd shift for almost 6 years. Had to work 2 months of days when I was orienting to my new job, and I hated it. Nights are quieter, fewer people.
